I am looking at adding a lift in my 2 car garage and there are many different options out there. I am currently looking at the Bendpak 9-Ht (the 4 post slim model). I have a couple 328s that I want to stack.

Lets see what others have out there and WHY you picked the lift you currently have???

    thanks in advance, Bryan

There is a thread not too long ago in the silver subscribed section discussing Lifts, I believe over 200 posts IIRC .... But you have to subscribe in order to participate . ($15) very well spent.

I LOVE my Bendpak scissor lift. Portable if I move, neatly recesses in the floor so there aren't huge posts taking up floor space (plus, a 4-post lift requires an expensive bridge jack if you plan to remove the rear wheels to do work), and no special slab requirements for the floor (2-post lifts require higher-than-standard psi/thickness concrete slab in order to be bolted down. Only drawback so far is that you can't store another car on top of yours. If you're buying for storage, that's one thing. For maintenance work, entirely different...

For home use, get the 4 poster. It's self supporting, so no need to bolt it down; drive on, drive off, so no need to bend (I hate bending) down to adjust the jacking points; as you mentioned, you can stack the cars, and most come with dolly wheels so you can move them. I love mine - so many little tasks that no longer require bending, stooping, or lying on your back.

I bought this one several years ago. After looking at some models and doing some research, I was sold on the collar-over-post design used by backyard buddy and this manufacturer, who is no longer in business.

I have no regrets. A lift is like a good floor jack, once you have one, you will wonder how you ever lived without it before.

Best of luck in your quest.

It looks like you have doors coming and going.

I have thought about a drive through, but not offset.

How is your garage and house arranged?

I bought eight lifts of the exact same model that you are looking to buy. I have no complaints. Ask for the 110 and not the 220. A little slower, but a lot more convenient. Just a lot easier to plug into the wall. The way I understood it, if you didn't request 110, you got 220.

    Jerry -

That photo angle is deceiving. Functionally, it's only "drive-in." There's a 16-foot-wide two-car door facing the alley behind our house, and an 8-foot-wide single-car door centered on the "backyard" side, so that I can roll up the door facing our private yard for fresh air while I'm working in the garage, without the whole world in the apartment buildings behind us seeing my car and tools. Really just a security/privacy measure, but we got an "architectural" barn door-style door for the garage side so it at least looks pleasing from the house.

HUGE, EMPAHSIS ON HUGE, point I should make if you or anyone here is considering doing a garage door on both sides: The secondary door should ideally be installed with a high-vertical-lift track and jack shaft motor, so that you don't have two suspended motors in opposite directions fighting for space at the center of your garage, and so the doors won't collide if you open both sides at once. You'd THINK this would be intuitive, by I had to educate some contractors and their engineers pretty good during the planning stage:)

Bryan, just remember that anything OTHER than a four-post lift for your purposes may require structural modification of your floor.

Bendpak is a great choice based on feedback I have heard. I bought Revolution as there weren't many good choices in my area 10 years ago, and Rotary, builder of Revolution, had an excellent reputation in our area.

I have two lifts by Quality. They were recommended by another enthusiast I know with many cars and the sales and installation guys were local. They are available in 110v or 220v. I went with 220v. Price was under $3k with install. My three car garage turned into a 5 car garage :)

Cascos solid deck two post parking lift. A bit like an adjustable height mezzanine. Fantastic piece of kit although quite expensive. Great for motorcycles, tractors etc. as well as cars.
Next to it I have the usual four poster, great for maintenance and parking.

Bend Pak. Great for storage and for working on my cars. Free standing. You will need a small air compressor to actuate the locking mechanism.
