Hi all, I want to install a Fire extinguisher inside the cabin. Mine is currently loose in the front trunk. What extinguisher have you got, what size do you have, and where have you fitted it. I know some have installed them in front passenger seat which looks good, but I think I'd like mine in the gap in front of the gearbox. Anyone done this? How you fitted it would be handy to know as well Image Unavailable, Please Login Thanks in advance
Mounted on the seat rails with a generic sort of bracket. Does not get in the way and easy to get to if the worst happens. Looks like the pass seat in the previous post is brand new or has never had a butt on it. I did not clean up the car before the pic and missed the best part. The stick! I have a few cars and the 360, my favorite, has to be the one going up in price like a rocket. Typical.
The photos are in my 550 but I don't see why the Brey Krause bracket would not also fit your seat. this is a quick release, tucks away nicely and as you can see in the last photo, you really don't know it's there, yet it is right there should one need to grab it and exit the car in an emergency. It is attached to the seat, so it moves with the seat. I have more photos of the mounting hardware installed under the seat if you are interested. I dropped my 80 bucks Element fire extinguisher in the box between the seats; it also fits in the door pocket for a very quick grab It lasts longer than the stock Ferrari by the way. https://elementfire.com/collections/allproducts/products/element-e50
Yes. I have a couple of those in other cars. Small and easily tucked away. Forgot about them. Thanks for pointing them out.
The bracketeer mount which was a pretty basic easy install. Wrapped the fire extinguisher in carbon. Location, not so great for passengers. Always in the way getting in and out. Probably going to relocate in center under the radio/front of shifter. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have the element fire extinguisher in the rear shelf pocket above the subwoofer box. It is not visible to passengers. A big red floor mounted fire extinguisher that I had prior was not a real confidence builder to prospective passengers, was somewhat intimidating, worrisome and confusing that this expensive car could catch on fire unexpectedly at any time.
I created this one myself using aluminum from Home Depot and a bracket from eBay. There is a thread I created a bunch of months back on this bracket. I didn't like the bracketeer as it restricted seat movement and didn't secure to the seat right enough for my liking. Plus this looks more professional. I dont have pics but in my old car that i sold i just used some red velcro straps to hold it in place to the floor mat. It worked very good.
Careful w velcro as it could go flying in an accident. I used the same bracket as post #2 after my velcro one let go on heavy braking.
I laid my extinguisher along the console just like that black one is sitting and never had an issue with it rolling. I used a heavy-duty Velcro. Now at first I tried putting the extinguisher against the seat bottom but that's when it rolled. So that's when I went to a heavier-duty velcro and put it against the console like the black one
I had mine like this before and then like I said it broke free during a hard brake. Image Unavailable, Please Login Switched to the generic eBay mount from #2 bolted to the seat rails.
Maybe you needed stronger velcro. I know the velcro i used is tough to pull apart. Anyway the fire ex is also on my list for my new to me car
Keep them coming guys. love the carbon wrapped one. To be honest I am hoping I never have to use it, but they look very cool
Unless your car came with the extinguisher from the factory and your trying to keep your car all original, I don't understand why anyone would have a dry chemical fire extinguisher in their car. Have you actually ever used a fire extinguisher? The dry chemical can make more of a mess than the fire you are attempting to put out. If your really concerned about putting out a fire I would recommend the Element extinguisher as it lasts way longer and won't make a mess.
Where did that come from? Every picture here I see some type of Halon or HalGuard extinguisher not some cheap Home Depot special dry chemical fire extinguisher. I know mine is a HalGuard and is designed to not leave a corrosive residue. As to why use a real extinguisher over an Element? Training. If the car catches on fire, I don't have to explain to my passenger or passerby who see it on how to use the extinguisher to save someones life. Screw the car. Let it burn, but Fire Extinguishers can save someone's life. To the un-trained, an Element looks like a road flare. Now do I think the Element is a good product, yes and it would be prudent to throw one also in the door pocket since they are so small and why not, but they are not a replacement for a real Fire Extinguisher because the general public doesn't know what to do with them.
I am going to get an Element to put in the side pocket, its a good product. however, a real fire extinguisher looks a lot better than having what looks like a tube of smarties on show. I have just bought a Lifeline AFFF jobbie, it looks very similar to the OEM one and has a similar bracket. I'll repaint it, apply a graphic and then lacquer so it looks factory and see how that turns out. I am surprised no one has gone for mounting under the stereo on top of the transmission tunnel? It looks like the obvious place to me and fills a gap that should have been filled!
Are you going to drill into the floor? My bracket I made was a copy of the RaceSafe which attaches to one side of the seat rail, is completely removable and doesn't modify the car. To be honest if I didn't already have the extinguisher from when I had the bracketeer I would have just bought the complete RaceSafe unit with bracket. Buying the bracket alone is expensive.
I am going to look into, may even self tap or rivet, I'll consult my Technician for whats best to do if I go for it. Think it will look awesome there.
I've got something that reads similar to the Element (similar to https://firesafetystick.com/) in my door pocket. Far preferable to one of these huge things in the footwell that'll unlikely be used anyway, and probably more accessible.
I've had an Element extinguisher in my door pocket for years now. You can wrap it in a microfiber towel to stop it from moving around and making noise in there.
