This related to Lusso123 post #45; I didn’t want to copy all the text. I bought a Lot at Phil Hill’s auction. I collect the organizers that Ferrari send out as gifts, anyway I bought 8 of them and to my surprise they all had cards in them signed Luca and Piero. The was no mention of the cards in the sales blurb. I think they would have brought more money at the auction had potential buyers known this.

What a great surprise. Yes, those definitely would have sold for more...IF... Gooding had actually done their job!

He opened his library to people like me to write articles about Ferrari. There are also a few exclusive books made. For example a book solely about 250 GTEs with Dutch history.

Idk Jack I don’t think it would have made a difference, because they don’t disclose enough info. I didn’t know my purchase had those cards included until I opened them up. I originally bought them just based on what they were.

    Hi Mark.

The Forza set and Cavallino set, along with about 12 or so “Dino” related books, went all on BaT (part of a memorabilia collection I sold there).

I have about 100 left I’d guess. I post them in the FS section, one by one. A few I’ve put in groups (like coach builders etc.) as a lot.

It’s moving slow, but that’s ok. I enjoy putting the photos and info listings together.

Slow and steady wins the race buddy. :)

At least from your experirnce we know how hard / easy it is to sell a whole collection of books.

Reviving this thread with a terrible picture :D
I began to move some of my documentation from my flat to the house I now live most of the time, but unfortunately the (tailor made) wooden library to host it will take more than two months to be manufactured... so in the mean time, i'm using this awful stop-gap solution (since having the books in moving boxes is not helpful):

Quite a number of quality books on those shelves @LVP488

Can I ask for more details on the red book to the far right.

Haven't come across that book before, is it written in English ?

Yes it's in French - it's by Serge Bellu, I don't know if it's been translated (french subtitle is "journal d'une légende", i.e. "diary of a legend"). Published in 2010, 1200 signed copies.

What are the books on the second to top shelf, from the GTO 64 book to the right? I know the GTO 64 book and the PF book with black spine. What are the others, aside from the French one you described above? And are they worth buying? :)

I have a similar dilemma. I acquired two Ferrari libraries from long time collectors and have neither the shelf space nor the room for them. Boxes everywhere!

From left to right, after the GTO 64 book:
Ultimate Ferrari 250 GTO The Definitive History, by James Page, Porter Press
Ferrari l'Opera e il Sogno, the work and the dream, published by Ferrari in 2007
Ferrari by Automobilia, Opera Omnia 1946-2002

I think the 250 GTO book has been discussed here, it's a big work but expensive.
The two others have some redundancy, they both try to document Ferrari year per year, listing the cars and the most important racing activities. The Ferrari book may be more difficult to find than the Automobilia / Opera Omnia one; it has English / Italian texts while the Opera Omnia has Italian, English and French texts (so although larger, the latter may not not have much more information).

    Thanks for that.

I have a VERY large collection of Ferrari books and hadn't come across that one before but since it is written in French it's not really on my radar I guess.

I might post my updated library here or start another thread at some stage if anyone is interested in discussing the book contained within.
