This is one of the thousands of "Crown Land Lakes" controlled by our Ontario (Canada) government...there is no development permitted and the use of these uninhabitted lakes is wide open for anyone to camp (tents only) and fish (no motors)... I have a solar powered cabin about 10 minutes away on a secluded stream absolutely filled with trout...we use this lake as our private bass fishery....never see anyone else there...just loons, mergansers, beavers, black bears and us. Bob, you must dream of the day the Ida May will return to the water... what type of voyages do you dream/envision with her. I have become an Ida May fan thanks to your post... a truly remarkable historic craft. beev
Here is a video of my son test piloting his boat (6 years ago) He built it from scratch looking at old school pictures he found on the internet at age 16. He used my tools and got my encouragement, but he cut every board, screwed every fastener, and fibreglassed her all on his own. In the video he is testing it with a 9.9 old school Evenrude motor...(now at age 22 he races like a maniac with a 25 hp. I am too scared to pilot two sheets of plywood at mach speed!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZgV2oPvVQI Sorry for the diversion which highlights my simple Canadian boat life... I am a fan of anything that allows enjoyment of the water. I am currently in the market for an old barrel back Chris Craft like the one in this picture. beev Image Unavailable, Please Login

Mates, Permission to indulge w/ a pic of boats, dogs, kids[sorta],and inspiration. This is Scout and Foley doing their christmas card duty several years back when the climactic processes complied thusly. The daughter and son/n/law performed an act of otherworldly glee even down to the lit lights[battery-powered they assured] and sent this joy out with exaltations of a happy new year et cetera [how they got those two goons to be still long enuff, pose[with headgear!] and be generally good enuff to come close to the desired result is beyond words] We lost Foley, the Golden, couple of months ago and the kids have moved off the lake but the memories do go on.... Yeah, like boats[big/little]...and dogs.Plus add water... cheers, RE ps,Beev...CC's a beauty...the video, not the same bass lake? Just your basic SeaRay bowrider, but nice to have in the backyard, especially this time of year. The boat sits in the (fresh) water all year, then each Spring I chug it up to the marina for a service and a detail. Bought it from the dealer but had them keep the trailer....just rode it from their shop to the dock, and tied it up. Cool to come home to, especially for after-work jaunts up to the dockside restaurant about 20 minutes up the lake. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very cool! Use to drive a lowered truck. Always love seeing them towing or hauling stuff. Got so irritated of people telling me I ruined my truck and it was useless when I knew it wasn't.
