Love the boat. The Hinckley's are just beautiful. You're right, looks pretty rough.

Here's a pic from a week or so ago. We were in a place called the Tongue of the Ocean off an island called Andros. This is in 9000' of water that is usually very rough. I've never seen the ocean this smooth.

That's a nice fish!. You know the spot. That picture was coming though "the Pocket" which is about 10NM SW of Chubb. Chubb has had some hard times but a rich Texas guy bought it and is bringing it back a piece at a time.

You do about 4 months at a time on that, no days off as Engine room manned 24 hours a day. 440 000 dwt and 4th biggest ship in the world at the time. Gone to the big scrap yard in the sky these days.
45 000 SHP on single prop shaft- steam turbines 62 bar pressure and 515C superheat. About 260 tons a day of fuel.
If you get to a job with the wrong spanners it a long way to the workshop for the right ones

That's awesome man! Did that job pay well?? I always wondered what this sort of job would pay and I also would have loved to work on something like this also before the Mrs and kids came along.

And definitely some amazing numbers there in regards HP and how much fuel it burned through daily.

It was a job but i never got rich in it. You would not be so keen if you knew how hot and humid it was. The pure size of the engine room and machinery were enormus. Electrical load about 1500 kws at sea and around 2000kws when pumping oil ashore. Would pump about 18 000 cubic meters an hour, over a 60 mile distance..

    Wow, truely amazing man.

Hot and humid doesn't bother me, I work underground and temps reach up to 60c and 1000% humidity. :p

Thanks for sharing Mike, I really appreciate it.
