Just saw this on another website - Talon 37 with quad 400’s - runs ~ 140 mph Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting to see the explosive growth of multi-engined outboard 'go-fast' boats in the last 3? years. All these boats used to be 1/2/3 inboard 525 V8's......now seeing 2/4/6 400 Mercs hanging on the transoms! My first thoughts always go to the structural aspect of 2-4-6 v8's hanging off that one transom structure......but so far I've not heard or seen any falling off!
Exactly - the Mercury 400 & 450 changed the game - hottest two segments now are the 32-39 ft cats with twin 400/450’s running 120-135 mph and the big “pleasure” center consoles with 2-5 400/450’s on the back. Rumor is a 500 HP ( or more ) is coming soon - the big boys love them - easy to run. MDS
Now that’s badass, but I am more interested now in seeing the house that has a garage big enough for that bad boy....very cool.
PM me and I’ll share some pics and we can reconnect. We’ve met before. I was following you on the Indy F1 track on that magnificent day when we were let on with the Ferraris going balls out. No helmets, no fire suits. Just short and tees.
Man...was that an awesome day. One of my bests and first FCA events. I was at one time, very shortly behind a 333sp, it did not take long at all to loose sight. What a glorious sound. And what an amazing week, jail time and all...lol.
Good question - getting to be rare birds - kicking myself for selling mine - have owned two Grandsports and one Supersport MDS
Yeah i spoke with Allison, they refuse to make more. They say they're making a bigger version for the new outboards, but they have been saying that for 5 years. No one really makes a small fast sportboat anymore. My 21 ft checkmate is getting really long in tooth, im prob the only person in south fl still running a two stroke. Im told when it goes bang, that's it, not parts to be found. Plus as the motor gets older its pull get weaker and my ability to get out the water on slalom also declines with time. An inboard is a non starter in salty water with shallows here and there, plus speed.
They've been saying for years they were gonna make a 23 ft Grandsport ... That may never happen. You might get lucky if you watch FB - a red Grandsport just came up for sale in TN - I think they wanted $42,000 with a Promax. It was also listed on www.screamandfly.com. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...1413324875000/ Are you only looking for an Allison? Liberator looks to be making a nice rig and Randy ( guy that sells a lot of them is in Florida ). Depends what you're looking for .... MDS
yeah liberator are fast boats and good price But zero possibility to ski off I’ve got an eastern pilot 21 coming for cruising about, I’ll see how skiable it is, then need something For ski and speed. alternatively redo the checkmate but putting a 500lbs 4 stroke in place of a 340 lbs 2 stroke may be an issue. I can probably work around that by goi g lithium on the battery and reinforcing the transom, but then where does it end. There is also the question of wood stringers on a 30 yo boat. tuff boats has just come out witha 20 footer but that’s a 4 year back order small and fast is my speed, same as with the lotus. Other tha. Wind driven choo the water where I am is pretty protected, not a lot of boats and miles to run
Holy crap. That's insane. I wonder if 450Rs would yield another 10mph. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
A cousin with-a. Quad engines boat was saying quads are better faster than say 2 v12s Then I saw this which obliterates the debate 65 feet 6 v12s
I think a million in engines 120k a pop x6 plus controls etc. there’s a giant tow eye on the front of that boat, I guess it’s the smaller part of a mothership.
Never ever would have thought I would see nearly 4mm outboard driven boats. Inflation has ratchet up our toys, tools if you would. It has been just incredible since CV. Image Unavailable, Please Login
