Back in early 2014 when we first tackled the BMW i8 we knew that we had to create something special because everyone would be looking to top the first heavily modified i8 completed by our team. We chose none other than HRE’s flagship P101 monoblock – and now, almost at the end of 2016, we still get i8 customers walking into our showroom asking for the same setup. We were fortunate enough to get it right the first time and created the industry standard for this vehicle by doing so.

    Wheel Specs:
    HRE P101
    22”x9” // 22”x10.5”
    Finish: Satin Charcoal
    Tires: Pirelli P Zero Nero
    Front: 245/30/22
    Rear: 285/25/22

These look amazing. Are there clearance issues with the wheel arch? How much do they weigh? I'd be interested in these for my i8.

Zero clearance issues. We've done this setup about two dozen times or so since the i8 was released and it's as perfect a fit as you can get - even on lowered examples like this one.

Weight varies depending on wheel size and vehicle application but the approxiamte weight on this particular fitment is 23.2 lbs for the front and 24.7 lbs for the rears.

I will PM you with my contact info shortly.

This car should've had the V8 TT from the M5/M6 and it should've been called the M1. :)

The car is outstanding in my personal opinion. Yes, you get plenty of attention when rolling around but when you stop at any location and you see a kid's face light up and ask to sit inside it really makes your day.

From a performance standpoint it's no rocket ship but it holds its own on the track.

You get ZERO debate on that from me haha!

Personally, I think they got the car just about perfect. There is so much to enjoy depending on your mood. It can be a sports car, a grand tourer, or economy car at the flick of a switch. I feel like a fighter pilot utilizing all the different systems...it is a really engaging experience... but very different from other sports cars.

It should also be mentioned that it is beautifully put together, elegantly sculpted and, so far, absolutely bulletproof.

I've had mine for a few months and 6k miles, and I can't find a damn thing I don't like about her.

As for these wheels, WOW. They look fantastic!

Much appreciated Joe! Ever had thoughts of adding aftermarket wheels or even the newly developed tune that gives it some extra grunt?

Possibly. I tend to keep my cars stock, but those wheels are really an elegant upgrade. If I chose to buy my car out at lease end, these wheels would definitely be something to consider, especially if they are available in the stock sizes.

Joe, I completely agree! I posted on Bimmerpost about the things I'd like to see improved for the refreshed i8 and the list is small. It's an amazing machine. Maybe the most misunderstood car available today. 50 more hp, and better brakes and the car is just about perfect. I drove mine from Pittsburgh to Toronto and back last month and got out feeling refreshed plus I had a blast the whole way.

Would certainly love to earn your business if you ever go down that route. Stock diameter sizes are available with the P101.
