Since my belt issue with the AC compressor, I immediately noticed now coming out of 1st from a stop I get a shutter, very consistent, not like a worn clutch shutter, but something else going on... with or without the AC running.... I guess maybe a clutch? when the AC belt started burning, the engine RPM climbed while I had my foot on the brake like it was trying to compensate or something and the car surged a little... wondering if the clutch was partially engaged and heated and burnt it? anyone ever encounter something like this?

If I hard accelerate from a stop I get no slip, and it still pulses/surges a tad but off I go.... in 2nd gear WOT no slippage.... doesn't seem like a worn clutch....43K but unsure of last clutch service... would have to dig up records...

Have someone put it on an SD3 and check it out. The system will tell you about clutch overheats. May be something else, too, and the SD3 should point to the problem with a competent tech.
