Wow...that is one beautiful example. Don't think he's going to pull that kinda money on it, but it definitely looks like a nice purchase.

The Dinan S2-M5 has been dubbed "a rocket" by Car and Driver magazine; quite a fitting description for one of Dinan's finest high performance offerings to date. The S2-M5 represents the ultimate in naturally aspirated engine performance, coupled with a shorter 3.45 final drive and lightweight flywheel, resulting in acceleration that is nothing short of breathtaking. The Stage 2 Suspension System along with the Strut and Shock Tower Braces provide handling that belies the M5's substantial size, while maintaining a surprisingly comfortable ride. Naturally the optional Dinan 18" wheel and tire package are highly recommended for maximum grip and an unmistakable reduction of understeer for tight and predictable cornering capabilities.

For the ultimate in naturally aspirated M5 performance, Dinan's new high performance intake and exhaust cam shafts may be added to the S2 engine program as an option, increasing peak horsepower to 481 @ 7000 rpm, with 419 lb/ft torque available at 5000 rpm. Stage 6 Engine Software is required.

That is what I thought. Regular low mileage 2002 M5's go in the low 50's.

its ok deal if u think its a good deal to pay 15k for that so-called 30k dinan s2 pkg.
its a rip-off if u care less about the dinan crap.
intake/exhaust/ecu/ect should cost less than 3k.
i will offer 52k, and seller can keep those wheels.

That's a steal, the package is fully warranteed by BMW and the buyer can add an extended warranty through BMW. It's practically brand new. Still smells new inside and the few times I have driven it, I am thoroughly amazed each time. He has a couple offers for it, but nothing went through yet. A 2000 S2 with 30k miles, with less options sold for just over $60k. This car is a bargain. If I had the money, I would have bought first time it was offered for sale.

I been detailing that car for over 2 years and I love it more and more each time. It's just never driven and it seems like more people drool over that car than his neighbor's Gallardo.

As for the comments on not being worth the price, that's understandable, as this kind of car is only for those into these types of vehicles. I think a 2004 360 Spider is overpriced at $150k, but I know many people on here would probably pay that. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. For the price on this one, you are really saving about $20k when it comes down to it. This car is basically brand new and has been presereved since it was bought, so it's like the car has been broken in and kept perfect and now ready for a real driver. All the stock parts come with it too:)

if its such a steal, how come no one bids on it??
and now try to put a '04 spider at 150 BIN on ebay, lets say how soon it sells.
    enough said.

m5 is a great car, and a '02 with low mileage is worth low 50's, but ur dreaming if u want to recover your 30k dinan pkg.

If the new bodystyle wasn't out yet, it'd be a no brainer, but the old bodytyle (although still cool) cannot claim that kind of cash.

Very sweet ride, but I'd opt for a new M5 to a modified old one for the minimal price difference.

    You're right. I should clarify:

Price varies unless you're a loyal Bimmer fan.

first off, not my car, second, no one bids because its a niche market with so few parties interested. There have been about a dozen or so phone calls of people interested, of which about 6 were real. 3 still have to come and look at it, and an aditional person is local that wants it. its like buying any specialty car, not like a ferrari, but more like an m3 lightweight, or an early 90's e500 benz renntech...know what i mean. the guy who's selling it, doesnt need to sell it, but is considering it because he never drives it.

for people like us, its not worth it, most of us (if I personally could afford it) if we bought it, would probably love the car for 6 months or a year or so, maybe even more, but we'd definately drive it, bringing down it's value and selling it eventually for a loss. this car isn't for people like us, its for the bmw enthusiast who is looking for this particular car, that you can no longer buy. the only other type of person i can think of, is the kind of person that has enough money that they could take a loss on a cool car they would want if they ever decided to sell it. but if you look around, the dinan s2 cars with 45k miles or more, are still bringin 50k

suprised on all the comments. all in all a great car. hope whoever buys it is local, cause id want to buy it from them, hopefully ill have the money in the near future.

are we still talking about teh S2 M5 here?? or are we talking about a F40?
because a E39 M5 is not a collectible and will never be. it will lose value over time no matter you drive or not, no matter how clean it is, no matter how many miles is on it.

the usual potential buyers, are those who wants a performance sedan for daily driver, they might already have all the toys for the weekend. they don't, or at least should not care how many miles is on it right now, as long as the price reflects it.
if you are looking for a buyer that THINKS he will not lose money on it and buy it as investment/collectible, well good luck to you and the owner.

yes, its a nice car, yes you can not buy it anymore. yes, if its in low 50's i will bring you a bag of cash right now. but trying to recover your 30k S2 dinan package, is a joke.
soon the E90 M5 is coming out, ugly or not, people will buy it, it kills the E39 performance wise. so if i were you, i will unload it this month.
