The Ohio-based tuner, Switzer Performance Innovations (SPI) proves that they have more than one tuning trick up their sleeves introduced a milder performance upgrade for the Tiptronic-equipped 911s besides their previous 1,000hp bolt-on package for the Porsche 911 Turbo.

The new tuning package, called L4 700/750, is flexible enough for daily driving and was really intended to attract a wider customer base. On top of a regular 997 Porsche 911 Turbo SPI added its own bespoke DME software, two upgraded variable-turbine-geometry V3 turbochargers, fresh intercoolers and race-style full exhaust system. The consequence of all these upgrades is a sprint rate of 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, quarter-mile crossing in the mid-to-high 10 second level, with top speed in excess of 200 mph. The basic package costs $18,450. Photo gallery after the jump!

No offense to you, but my reaction to the write-ups is nonsense! First off, there's no way HP and TQ on a 997TT can be raised anywhere near 1000hp with just bolt ons. Think max of 600hp on a 997TT. More requires serious engine out, pistons, rods, cam shaft work would have to be involved. Second, the more that HP/TQ are spooled up with bolt ons, the higher the rpms required to reach their promised numbers, with lower end torque often suffering as a result. For example, look at the published dyno charts for Ruf's 650HP upgrade on a 997TT and you'll see lower torque below 3000 rpms than the stock 997TT delivers. Finally, crazy high HP/TQ rarely translates into much faster 0-60 times; where it comes on strong is in 50-100mph times. I'd like to see any car perf. mag extract a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds out of these hyped cars; quarter mile performance gains, yes, track mileage times, for sure. If there's one thing I've learned about tuners its to interpret their claims as hype, greatly exagerated claims that don't turn into the kind of performance the client would imagine.

Agreed. 0-60 in 2.5 is just lying.
Neat to postulate on but not real world sustainable numbers.
