    Hello all:

I am helping a friend who has ordered by special arrangement a Maserati Khamsin windshield from Sicurvetro, the company of Antti Wihanto in Finland and I have had no news for quite some time: months. Just unanswered email and voicemail messages.

The only other person I know In Finland did not respond when I asked him for news about this even though he knows him.

I would be very grateful if somebody there, perhaps Kare could find out, I know Sicurvetro has provided windshields for a number of classic Ferraris.

Their contact information is all here:

    http://www.sicurvetro.com/

Hopefully there is a simple explanation and all is well.

    Many thanks in advance,

    best regards,

    Marc Sonnery

    Antti is a broker

    NOTHING DONE

    $25000 later

    Waste of time!

Antti came to my shop a number of years ago to collect samples of Maserati front glass to duplicate. I've forgotten exactly what our arrangement was, but he went away with Sebring, Ghibli, Mexico, Mistral used front glasses and much, much later I got a single pretty good new Ghibli glass in a box. Last I've heard of him. Didn't look like it was going to work going in. Happy fellow, though.

Thank you all for the posts, emails and messages: it seems that failure can happen to the best and worst amongst us, with lots of good or bad luck and everything in between.

    best regards,

All of which raises the question: Isn't there someone here in the US who makes windshields?

    Yes.

I've had a number of windshields made for me by these guys to DOT specs and was very happy with the results.

You have to work with them and it costs about 12K for 5 of them. You get the tooling back.

Yours truly with almost 20 years of experience, incl. makes/models ranging from Bentleys-to-Ferraris, Maseratis-to-R-R's, Talbot-Lagos, One-offs, Prototypes, Customs, etc...
and not only windshields, but also curved rear and side glass.

    Thanks for the feedback Jim:

12k for 5 is good if you are happy with the results.

    best regards,

Antti has built numerous winshields for the Iso and Bizzarrini club with no problems. I am surprised to see this.

Antti is notoriously slow in answering his mail, calls, etc.
Sicurvetro is an existing company, had a stand at Padova last time I saw him.
He sent me 5 assorted pieces and were all of great quality, zero problems.
Supplied a huge number of AR Montreal windshields and zero complaints.
My thoughts: he has to improve hugely on his communication skills, and if he
continues in this fashion he stands to lose a nice market niche.
Oh well, you make your bed, and then, you sleep in it...

    Regards, Alberto
