My 355 spider finally arrived today! Is there an easy way to get the material on the side of a spider top over the metal support? There is a high tension wire/cable behind the material and I didn't want to force anything- not sure if there is some trick to doing it.

It was in the 30's today- I tried to warm the garage up a little (which was probably still in the 40's) and operated the top down once time to check that it worked. The material didn't self correct when I put the top back up- Note: I'm not sure if the top went 100% down or if the material folded fully as I couldn't manage to get the snaps for the boot on (I know convertible top material stiffens up in these temps- I only dropped the top once as I was checking over everything with the car)...Maybe this all sorts itself out when it's in the 60s + out side?

By the way, the top (and windows) move very SLOOOOOW..but the car wasn't running and while the car started/cranks quickly the battery may have been a little low (she's been on the battery tender all day (1.25 amp) and almost fully charged finally after 11+ hours)..also I've just heard that 355 windows and the top can be slow.

Thanks for any insight/tips! This area of the top on the other side is fine...

Are both sides doing the same thing, or do they look the same ?
Also maybe some more pic's from different angles or further away might help.

How to properly warm a garage (double) with a 355.
Open door about two feet, back car close to the opening.
Start engine and warm up for 15 minutes, use two fans on the side to expel exhaust fumes if needed. Turn off car and close the door, open engine cover .... Toasty warm in 30 minutes.
Disclaimer .... Warning exhaust fumes are hazardous to your health.
OR buy a high output heater ;)

Ha! Yes- I had a 360 before this and aircooled 911's before that...they all doubled as high power garage heaters :)

The other side is perfect. I'll try to take some better pictures tomorrow that are clearer as well!

My spider was very tight in that area of the roof, maybe see if the tension cable is dislodged that holds it taught on the side ? I would check with the roof half open to release any tension on the area.

The windows and top were slow but always reliable on mine. Weird to hear it fold the first time , but I think that's how they all are.

    Congrats on the 355!

    Thanks!
There is a cable behind it that is very tight...my guess is I can maybe stop it part way down and guide the material, but I don't want to mess with it in these temperatures- I did test the top to go up and down once and don't want to push my luck operating in the winter!

Mine has done that a couple times since I put a new top on. When the top is half way up the cable is loose and you can easily flip the fabric to the other side. Usually is stays tight enough to stay on the correct side but I watch it now when going up to make sure.
