    Will not snap back and when I apply downward pressure will not reconnect. I scanned the internet and this seems to be problem.

    You might consider removing the door panel & remove the mirror. Then take a look at what is broken & maybe fixing it.

    I fixed it was pretty complicated had to have a new alum shaft milled.
