It is my understanding that the 365 did not come with side mirrors or they were an option or appeared on later cars only; something like that. It is also my understanding that *all* the 512s (BB and BBi) came with side mirrors albeit in different styles over time. Can someone confirm and/or add color to the side mirror story? Thanks!
even when the first 365 BB came out in germany it was the law to have 2 mirrors. but the law not says where they have to be. so may be only one outside ( left side for left hand drive car ) and one inside. but those 2 had been a must for registration may be a second outside mirror ( right side ) has been an option?
Early boxers had the chrome mirror and the holes in the door for it so I would say since its law, every boxer came with at least the left mirror. Early boxer was the same chrome mirror as the 246. 76 was the changeover to the Vitaloi plastic manual mirror. Injected cars got the larger mirror with the bellows and the small ferrari badge. Same mirror used on Countach, 400i series two, 412, euro 308 etc. I've seen one BBi with a left mirror only but Im not sure that was possible. Looks wrong too. My understanding was two power mirrors on BBi, not sure if they offered a manual version of that BBi mirror.
The books all show pictures of BBi with drivers side mirror only but the original interior control was designed for 2 mirrors. We brought a bunch in brand new and my memory is they all had 2. Maybe it was an option.
Paul/Brian: Thank you! My very specific target here was carb 512 and confirmation that they left factory with at least driver's side plastic manual mirror. Very interesting about the interior control as a clue.
