Sideways picture upload from iPhone ? Why ?

Have the volume buttons down when taking pictures.

 

Why a sideways photo anytime? It seems to be very popular these days. Look at me I'm artsy. It ruins the photo as far as I am concerned.

The iPhone has a goofy algorythm to decide which side of the picture is "up". Facebook is usually pretty good at deciphering this and posting the photo the way you intended. Lots of other online software isn't as sophisticated and will post it sideways or upside down. If you send it to a PC and open it in paint or something and save it the way you want it, then you can post and it will stick. You could also try and screenshot the picture on the phone and then post it up and it should be the right side up.

 

mine always posts the photo upside down unless I transfer it to my desktop......go figure

I've noticed a similar problem, since updating to Photos on my MAC.

Often, the picture orientation is not correct; especially if the he picture is vertical oriented.

The solution is to export the photos to a temp folder. Then upload from that location, which does preserve the correct orientation. Then just delete the photos in the temp folder.

 

OK i'll try again, but this all started when Photos made it's debut
never had a problem with IPhoto
