So, i let a room mate use my laptop who was from another country. He was trying to do homework. So when he tried to plug in his thumb drive, the computer couldn't run the file for some reason.

    That's the back ground.

    Now for the problem.

Whenever i try to shut down my lap top now, i keep getting this error code. That whatever my room mate tried to access is trying to run the file. And it happens EVERYTIME I try to shutdown.

I've gone into c-drive and searched for it. I tried to delete it but it keeps coming back. Also, i tried the ctrl+alt+dlt, and tried to shut it down in running processes. Yet it keeps coming back!

Keep in mind he was only on my laptop for at most 5 minutes, so i don't think anything sinister was going on. Now the program/file is getting really annoying.

So, any help would be really appreciated!!

    EDIT: the codes are:

    File:Hpqimzone.exe-0x00ac8890 and0x00540650

do you have a HP scanner? Uninstall all of your hp software if you have it.

    download this
    http://www.ccleaner.com/

run the registry and the cleaner.

Hopefully will solve your problem. If your computer is hooked up to the internet unplug or just turn your wi/fi off when you run the scans.

do you have hp software on your computer all of it. Last I checked hp puts like 27 programs on your computer to use the printer. :) Get rid of all of it its junk.

Also have you tried doing a system restore to before your roommate used your computer?

I'd be careful with a system restore. You could lose all your data.

Frankly, I don't trust the windoze "rollback" feature, compared to Apple's Time machine.

You could try it, but it would probably cause more problems if a lot has been done software/driver-wise since the appearance of your problem.

Back up your important files and try the rollback...

    It's called "System Restore"
