For those of you that have often wondered what is inside a 308 or Mondial Silencer (muffler to our colonial cousins) here's one I oped up earlier.
It rattled like a tin can with stones in it so I cut it open to see whats inside. I have often wondered. To state the obvious, the pipes come lose. Not much in there for your money.

wow, you made a really neat job of cutting that open. If had been me it would have looked as if I'd hacked it with a machete.

What is the plan? It does not look to be in that bad a shape...tack weld the pipes in place, then weld the sheet you cut out, back in place?

This was my plan for the 355 until I found out I have a Tubi already...While you're in there I'd remove some of that baffling then seal her up :) DIY Tubi!

As far as flow, that muffler looks like crap inside.
It would make me ill knowing my exhaust had to go through that mess.

    Time to upgrade.
    Good luck and have fun!!

I have done a bit of surgery with some advice from a pal that works for an exhaust manufacturer. Welded all the pipes up and had the hole covered.
Just need to get around to fitting it.
