    All of a sudden, my 308 wouldn't shift correctly. I had a hunch it was the engine side silent block (there's a second one in the passenger compartment by the gate shifter). Sure enough, the rubber had given up. I remember replacing that one about 35 years ago. I also remember that it was about 10 bucks back then. Now, it hovers around $75, and I've seen them listed for as high as $135! If it wasn't rubber which decays with time' I'd say invest in those things (just kidding).

    I just worked on it, and it shifts sweet again! What a great great car!

    Anyway, it's probably a good maintenance item to replace. Mabe every 15-20 years give or take.

    OP how difficult was this to replace at the shifter end I need to do it ASAP as well. Did you remove the entire shifter assembly from inside the car or did you try to do this from the small access hole in the underside panel?
