The main ECU's are behind there. Pull the covers and have a look. The diagnostic test buttons are in there too.
Those are the Electronic Control Units. One unit is for cylinder banks 1-4, and the other is for cylinder banks 5-8. Removing either of those panels allows access to a red button, which is a component of an on-board diagnostic system. Using the red button, there is a procedure by which you can diagnose what the "Check Engine" lights are trying to tell you. There was a recent thread on this procedure.
Cheers guys! I've read sooooo many threads on those ECU's and always wondered where they were stored! I thought they must be lurking in the corner of the engine bay somewhere. Anyways, it's put paid to my idea to replace those housings with a decent sound system! Drew
