I'll have a heavily loaded Argento Spider here in about a week...as long as the owner is ok with me posting a few photos I'd be happy to snap a few for you.
Another one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rafaelribeirophotos/7328574218/ Argento Nürburgring with a Bordeaux interior would be my pick...like this Mexican 458--> http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=458+spider+mexico&m=text
Not that anyone should care, but that first flicker one above has a special place for me...it's the tester I drove that made me say "forget a replacement Cali...I'm getting one of these!" Looks great in Argento.
I had no shields on my Cali and unfortunately affected resale so I have had to spec them on my Spider.
Cauley's demo is in this color. It is stunning in person http://www.cauleyferrari.com/showroom/ZFF68NHA6C0188137.aspx
It's an unfortunate truth. What happens is that if you don't have shields, your car will sit unsold while those with shields get bought. After a time, the only way to sell the car is to drop the price. We shouldn't necessarily spec the car we buy just to resell it, but have to recognize there is a price to pay for our decisions. If you really prefer a car without shields, go for it, but don't be disappointed that you have to discount your price when it's time to sell. Same is true re color choices. Resale shouldn't prevent you from ordering a green or pink car with a red interior and sports seats size small, but you WILL have to discount it to sell it.
I think (hope) it is a bit regional, just like interiors. One of the salespeople in the dealership encouraged me to get them, and the other said not to bother if I don't like them. My 360 had no shields and I don't think it hurt me too much at trade in time. We'll see. I, personally think they break up the lines of the car, but I realize that I'm in the minority.
I think shields were a relatively rarely chosen option in 360s, so hopefully this works out for you. If there's less expectation of a car having shields in that year/model line, then lacking shields should hurt you less at resale time. As for the original topic, I like the 458 in silver, shields or no shields. The metallic paint I think brings out the car's lines better than the solid colors. But it's really a personal choice, like shields. From my non-scientific anecdotal evidence, a lot of 458 buyers seem to be choosing other than the traditional red/tan.
This is now my favourite colour as its very understated, I like the exterior to be conservative and keeping the interior "loud" with a bright colour.
