A blurb in this month's Road & Track (9/05 p.30) says the University of Auckland NZ has concluded a study with the following results: 1) red cars get more tickets , 2) silver cars are less likely to be in collisions, and 3) brown, black & green cars are in more accidents.

Couldn't find the detailed study to see if they had factored for self-selection issues (speeders buy red cars, non-speeders buy silver cars). But *assuming* that it is purely a visibility issue, then #1 & #2 seem contradictory (if police see red more easily then other drivers should see red too and similarly for silver), while #3 seems to fit with "common sense" (earth tone and dark colors blend more with the background and are harder to see).

P.S. Had CHP follow me in 2 out of my last 4 outings in my red F-car in 2 weeks. None followed me in my red TT cab P-car for over a year! Obviously some complex "selection" issues going on here :) .
