Excellent. Now Silverstone please don't waste this opportunity and solidify your position on the F1 calendar.

Hmmm, I didn't read anything about them building a 100 foot statue of Bernie (20x real size!) made out of solid gold. Supposedly it will have a staircase going halfway up so EVERYONE can kiss his ass.

LOL!!! ... surely it would have an opening so EVERYONE can actually crawl up his ass, have to be a big space in their 'cause Ron Dennis and 90% of the other team bosses will already be in there :D :D

I'm happy that Silverstone remains on the calendar, but I'm not sure that the 5 year deal is really good news for the circuit: The gentlemen from the BRDC can now sit back again and relax and let time pass without commiting to anything.

I much rather would have liked to see a deal with conditions and goals for the circuit owners to achieve. I bet in five years we'll be facing the same mess again.

I think the agreement will outlive Bernie. But, Silverstone better make HUGE improvements, because as a venue it's definetly sub-par and the consideration to remove it was a good one. I'm not sure I'm glad it's still there. The "history" and posterity arguments don't stand - think about all of the greater races lost now. The sport needs to evolve, and BRDC and Silverstone aren't exactly on the forefront there.

Hmmmm....seems the proposed new date clashes with the Goodwood Festival of Speed. So how many of the current F1 teams are going to send cars and mechanics this year. Also how many F1 drivers are they going to get? Real shame, Goodwood is the number one venue for getting close to the cars and meeting the drivers.
Tough choice choosing which to attend - think I'll choose Goodwood

no doubt. goodwood is more fun. you can get close to the cars. see the great drivers and talk to them. the spectators are nicer and its actuallly more affordable. if you go to the revival week you can get dressed up in era costume.

I was hoping to see F1 move back to Brands Hatch, but Silverstone is still better than 2/3's of the tracks on the schedule.

Doesn't look like you'll need to make a choice now - unless you were also planning to attend the U.K. F.O.C. National Concours. Goodwood are about to announce a change of dates for the F.o.S. See:http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41802

Thanks - had already seen that thread on Atlas.
Think I'll aim to keep my 100% attendance record at Goodwood
