I purchased a new Bosch front-loading washing machine, with a strange plug from B.B.

I got a good price. I believe the odd plug, fits in the back of a euro-style dryer, with American current ? I do not want a euro-style dryer. I want an American dryer.

If I choose, within 30 days, I can return the machine for a full refund.

Can the plug be changed out, for a simple American standard plug ? Just solder on a new plug ?

After 26 years in the electrical distribution business I should be able to point you in the right direstion.....your plugis an american configuration...it looks like maybe a 20a250v version. I don't have my NEMA Configuration charts with me but i'm close. Take the picture to an electrical wholsaler and they can set you up.

    Geffen,

Thanks. I understand the 365GTC/4 sounds great :).

I will bring the pic, to an electrical wholesaler.

Please kindly let me know, if you find any more information.

Not many laundry rooms in the US are wired for 220 volts, so changing the plug won't help you if you don't have 220 volts.

However, some appliances can operate at either 110 or 220, which would be inside the machine, usually there is a panel where the cord goes into, open it up and see what is in there. Safer to buy a new cord.

Best if you have the installation manual available.

As I look at my NEMA charts....this looks to be a Nema 6-15p that needs to be plugged into a Nema 6-15r As I look at my previous post.....I see that I shouldn't be typing after I take my Amdien.

    Geffen.

    And yes....the C/4 Sounds wonderful.

Probably easiest to just request a new cord. There are American outlets that will fit that but then you have to install it

    it's a NEMA 6 220 VAC 15A

But, almost all Laundry rooms with electric dryers are wired for 220 single phase, which is what that is.

Unfortunately, I doubt a 15-20 AMP circuit would run the washer and dryer simultaneously so would require a re-wire of the laundry.

As to changing the voltage on the washer . . . I doubt that's an option.

Ralph, post up the model number. If it's attached to a dryer, than a simple plug change is in order. Dryers are often 220 VAC

Thanks for all of the responses !!

I would not change the voltage on the washer.

I do not yet have a dryer. I believe the small euro-style 24" Bosch washer, is supposed to plug into the back, of the small euro-style Bosch dryer ? This is the small traditional European style washing machines. I want to buy, a big American dryer.

Enclosed are the voltage and model #, of the Bosch washing machine.

    208-240 Volts - 60 Hz

    Bosch # WAS20160UC

You'll need a 220 circuit to plug that in. The adapter won't help you.

Matching receptacles are available at Home Depot. You'll likely need to run a 12-3 line from a 2-pole 20 amp breaker in your service panel.

If you already have a 220 circuit for an electric dryer in the laundry room it might be a little easier.

NEVER EVER USE AN ADAPTER......It create resistance in the circuit. Not what you want. Most washers / dryers are 15a125v.....not sure why yours is 15a220v.

why not just go back to the place you bought it, don't talk to anyone but the manager (don't bother with any sales guys) and say that you had a 220V version delivered, and you require the 110V model ....let him know that they can exchange it for no-cost-to-you, or you can return it for full refund and buy the correct one else where ....that's what i'd do IMO
