Back in the mid 80's on the Autobahn I had the gas pedal of my TR8 floored for an hour and a half which pegged the speedo at its max of 120. Recently, passing speeds with my 1098S and SRT-6 will go past 130 easily, within seconds.

A81 is a great road!!!. When Im around the region it is routine to see the test/upcoming vehicles being driven. The new Panamera from Porsche can be seen and the various Benz etc. Sometimes the BMW tests can be seen as well. Its a beautiful drive through the region on down to Switzerland.

150mph (indicated of course) in a Cosworth many years ago, while trying (but failing miserably) to keep up with a Porsche. It felt fast, and I look forward to owning a properly fast car (read Fcar!)

I concur. A stock or mildly modified TR8 has a tough time up top. 116 is all I made on either of mine (stock coupe with carb, rag with Holley 390 and headers and bored 030. The speedo read 120 on both. Cx is awful on the wedge, same aerodynamics as a Caprice wagon. Nice car otherwise.

Best post on this thread :D

It's not how fast you go but how many real (sanctioned event) races you win that matters ...

I'm pretty confident that MS does not waste his time discussing topics like this thread, but by all means continue pumping your struggling egos up .
    Pete
ps: Every car I have ever owned has been maxed out at some stage ... how fast was I going?, who cares (and not really that fast compared to many of you), the point that matters is that was as fast as we could go ... nothing else to prove for that car. Many people have gone faster, but all that takes is $'s, nothing else.

Driving from LA to SF one night my buddy and I cruised at about 130+ for an hour and a half before slowing down (for gas). Highway 5. About 2:00am till about 3:00am nothing but truckers in the way. Other than that I don’t usually go past 100 or so. There’s not a whole lot of open road around here and a hell of a lot of cops.

    Dumbest thing I've ever done:

Me and a buddy of mine went street racing one night in his foxbody Mustang (would run 8.50s in the eigth mile, which is pretty quick) against a Mitsu Evo. Both cars had a substantial amount of modifications, etc. On the second run we did a 20mph drop and were dead even the entire time, and we spent at least 20-30 seconds flat out in fifth gear after shifting at max power in fourth. Nobody looked at the speedometer (I was filming; oh, and riding shotgun ;)), but my buddy later did the same thing by himself one night and hit an indicated 145 mph... It was fun, but looking back, pretty stupid, and we're lucky we didn't kill someone. :(

The SE-R has a limiter at 113...I've hit that plenty of times. While driving with my knees. :):):)

    JUST KIDDING.

Not young, not lying, never been on a track; and always figured 120 was more than fast enough on mid-western roads.
