We should see a strong Red Team result here. I think I said that about Italy lol Mercedes says it is turning its Formula 1 car and engine factories "upside down" in the bid to keep adding performance in its fight against Ferrari. With Lewis Hamilton recently increasing his world championship lead despite Ferrari currently having a faster car, his Mercedes bosses are fully aware that the team still needs to improve. Ahead of next weekend's Singapore Grand Prix, an event where Mercedes has struggled for pace in the past, the team has promised to raise its game. "We will give it everything in Singapore and all of the remaining races," said Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff. "We will turn the whole factories in Brixworth and Brackley upside down to extract performance, and go to Singapore with the aim of doing the best. "Whether that is good enough to win the race or not I don't know yet, but the next seven races are going to be maximum attack." Mercedes pulled off a brilliant win in Italy last weekend, when Hamilton was helped by a mistake from Sebastian Vettel and blistering tyres on Kimi Raikkonen's car. Hamilton's team-mate Valtteri Bottas believes the two top teams remain closely matched, and tyre usage is the key differentiator.
Red Bull rate their chances in Singapore - https://www.planetf1.com/news/red-bull-rate-their-chances-in-singapore/ I hope Ricci does well here! Max Verstappen believes that Red Bull have a “real chance” of taking the victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore next week. After struggling in the last few races, with the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix not in their favour, Red Bull look to Singapore with high hope. Verstappen was penalised at Monza for pushing Valtteri Bottas off the track, which led to a rant over the team radio. However, with Singapore on the horizon, Verstappen is hoping he can improve on last year’s race, where he retired on the opening lap. “I think the whole team is looking forward to Singapore because we know we have a real chance to have a good result there,” Verstappen said. “The race has been a strong one for us in the past and I think we should be able to challenge for a podium this year. “I really enjoy driving there; the track has a lot of corners and is quite bumpy but it makes it all the more interesting to find a good set-up for the car. His Red Bull team-mate, Daniel Ricciardo, has finished second in the last three Singapore races, and the race has grown on the Australian. “I have learnt to love the challenge of Singapore. For me, the first year I raced there in 2011 was one of the worst races I have been involved in,” Ricciardo said. “Physically it was so intense, I just underestimated how hard it would be. “I wasn’t in a happy place after that race, it gave me a feeling I never want to experience in a race car again, so I made a promise to myself that I would always come to Singapore over-prepared.” Having finished second in recent years, the Honey Badger wants more, and thanks to his love of street races, this could be his chance. “As everyone knows, I love street circuits. The feeling of driving on the edge, so close to the walls, is something you just can’t get enough of,” he added. “It’s the original night race and the schedule is always pretty hectic but there is something kind of romantic about going to the track at night and then to bed at four or five in the morning. “It’s a place where I also have good races and finish pretty strong.

I’m not so sure I’m looking forward to this one, ferrari should be strong, and red bull should be contenders, while Mercedes should struggle to get a decent set up, but I can’t help but be apprehensive that our strategists still won’t have learnt from their mistakes and will screw it up again. If they do, heads will have to start rolling. Not drivers, strategists and managers. They need to TELL the drivers exactly what is expected, and they need to organise a strategy for both cars that aims for the front row and the race 1-2. Anything less at a track like Singapore that is more favoured to us than the whiner, we might as well not bother to turn up for the last races at all, because we won’t deserve to be in the title race at all. They could do worse than swapping some of them for Bas and Pete Singoff, because those two have more strategy in their little fingers than ferrari have shown in the last couple of seasons
Level-setting expectations: My money is on Merc, that way if Ferrari upsets I will be pleasantly surprised rather than going in expecting Ferrari to win but having to close the weekend feeling sorely disappointed because they bungled it again.

According to projections (GPS data), Ferrari has 790hp during qualifying. Mercedes is only 10hp down (780hp). During the race, their engines are equal. Renault with their Spec C engine: 730HP , Spec B only 710hp. Honda: Spec B = 715hp There are rumors that Honda‘s Spec C engine will be close to 750hp Renault
I was unaware of this event, the safety standards at that circuit look absolutely terrifying. Thanks for posting.

Another 20hp on their Spec C (Honda) and RedBull will take points away from Mercedes and Ferrari for 2019....track contigent.
http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/24633055/technical-director-mattia-binotto-offers-insight-ferrari-turnaround Ferrari technical director Mattia Binotto believes structural changes to Maranello's engineering departments are the key to the team's success this year.
Not my opinion!! The Singapore circuit looks like a Scalectrix: there are no features and the race is at night. I won't bother to Watch it and will only look at the results. No doubt some people may think it's a great place ...
These "GPS data" figures from AMuS are track specific I think. I believe both cars (Ferrari & MB) were approaching 1000hp last year (quali mode).
I saw those guys race at Warwick Farm in 1970. I was in Sydney on R&R from R.V.N. which I had arranged to put me there for the Tasman race at WF. The Aussies were so kind, they couldn't do enough for me...pit pass, program, car badge which I still have, etc. I guess I'll remember that as long as I have a functioning memory.
