The front wheel offset provided by one Fchat member is 34.2 mm., and in fact this is close to what I can measure. But the wheel is stamped with an offset of 47.6. I presume this refers to the alloy part of the wheel. The wheel plus the steel insert having an offset of 34.2 In other words the insert is proud of the wheel by 13.4 mm. I would like some of the more experienced guys in Fchat to confirm whether I am reading this right , or am I out to lunch? In fact the alloy part of the wheel seem to be a very straight forward 16 inch with a 5 by 4.5" (114.3mm) bolt pattern, which could have been bolted directly on the brake disk which seems to have a 10 by 4.5" bolt pattern- with the lesser offset. Has any body attempted this?

I have spoken with Alan L. about this post. He purchased my car (Black 1986 Testarossa) and is enjoying wide open roads in and around Calgary. However, he desires improved braking. All suggestions are welcome.

His first thoughts were to change the wheels thereby allowing exchange for larger brake calipers. Identifying proper wheels with center splined hub and proper size is one challenge. An alternative would be to try to convert the single bolt setup to a 5-bolt pattern.

How have others approached these various solutions to mediocre Testarossa braking??????

    Thanks for your help.
