My '87 3.2 Mondial has started to display the slow down light from start up, and it, generally, doesn't go off when I'm driving it. I've read every search thread I could find about the slow down lights on the 8 cyl. Ferraris, but every one I could find dealt with the 3x8's, which, apparently, have two lights (where my Mondial has a single warning light). Everything on the car seems to be performing normally (no missing, no loss of power, etc.), and since it comes on from cold start up, I'm not concerned that it's telling me any component is too hot. However, as I'm sure all here can appreciate, I don't want to drive it too much until this problem is resolved.

My question is: with the 3.2 Mondial having the single warning light, where would the board recommend that I start to solve this issue? Thanks.

Am I misreading ^ post? Thought the 328GTB/S has only the one warning light
on the lower left of the display panel.

Common troubleshooting technique is to swap cat sensors. But with only one light I'm not certain what that will prove. Chances are that's what is wrong. Were I you, I'd replace both. Not knowing the price, it's easy for me to say sitting here. Nevertheless, that's ends on bet for the problem.

He's saying it's a single, just in a slightly confusing way.

Have it figured out before driving, could have a fire, damaged or destroyed cat or other problem. Could be many things including the electronics and sensors that monitor cat temps and mixture(O2 sensor).

If the light on from cold then you're probably not overheating the cat - would be my guess at least. Instead, you probably have an electrical gremlin hard at work there. There's an ecu for the light but I'm not sure where it is in a mondial (it's in the passenger footwell on a 3X8) so take a look at that. You could try replacing the sensor which is screwed into the cat. Someone here might have some test readings (ohms/resistence) for the sensor or even the ecu which would obvously be helpful... Good luck!

Sorry for the confusion. I knew the 308's had two lights, and my recollection was that the 328's had two also. If the 328's, in fact, only have one slow down light, I presume the troubleshooting procedure would be the same on them as on my Mondial. If the temperature sensors are like all other Ferrari parts, I can only imagine what they cost. If anyone has sensor specs (and the procedure for checking same), I would be most appreciative to get those. Also, if there's a retrofit available, that'd be great too. Thanks.
