    Folks... www.ricambiamerica.com has been down since about 5:30am EST. I have no idea why.

    I have contacted the host (who I am growing to hate), and it should be up soon. I apologize for the inconvienence. If you need anything in the meantime, feel free to call 336-499-2500 and leave VM, or drop me an email (or PM).

    I'm headed out for a bite to eat, trying to calm down.

    I am approaching nuclear meltdown stage... but just so folks know, site is still down. There has been absoluetly no communication back from the hosting company despite multiple trouble tickets being opened. I assume email to [email protected] and [email protected] is going somewhere.

    The quest for a new host will begin.... :(

    When I selected a host, I called their tech support on the weekend to see if they were there.

    Did not get it yet -- but all services on the ricambiamerica.com domain are down. I'll give these jack-a-lopes until tomorrow morning, then I'll begin the switch in earnest. It's unfathomable that they'd let this happen on the busiest shopping weekend of the entire year.

    It's such B.S. They claim that if the site can be pinged, it's "up". Excuse me? If the database is down, the box might as well be powered off. Using that stupid ping-test is one deceptive way they claim 99% uptime.

    Anyway, I'll gladly take recommendations for a Linux host capable of running osCommerce and a shared SSL certificate.

    It's BS. Ping means the nic card is reachable and if it's a crap server with a wake on LAN card then that is useless crap.

    The tech support at activehost is there 24/7. While I realize that it is unusual, it is the reason I use them.
    When searching for a new host, call their tech support to see if you can get through on normal and off hours. It will save you tons on "Free Shipping" :)

    Glad to hear you got things going again! Thanks for getting my $1 each clips up so fast too!! Those have to be one of, it not the, cheapest Ferrari parts I've ever bought!! Have a great weekend!

    I spoke too soon. Down again, since about 3:00am. OK gents, today the switch to a new host begins. I shudder to think what kind of disruption this might cause. :mad:

    It's back up.

    The second outage could be a maintenance window to fix what broke the other day. Tell them you want a written RCA and what they are going to do to address this outage in the future or you will walk.
