Good luck. Thankfully, it looks like you may have until mid-week to get ready. The storm seems to be moving slowly. Be safe.

    Stephan,

I am in Pace (Stonebrook, just NE of P'cola), and am leaving the 355 in my garage and hoping for the best. If it comes in as a Cat. 3 or less, we will stay, 4 or 5 and we're gone. Good luck to you.

For those of you: drive your cars west. Avoid the storm, don't deal with the insurance carriers on the cars.

Actually Art, from P-Cola, you would want to drive East.

Please for everybody there, treat this storm with respect. Hopefully, it will lose strength before it hits, but don't count on it. The main thing is to get off the beaches and avoid areas that flood. Don't worry about your cars or anything else. Just worry about you and your family. I have tried to get my 81-year old mother to leave, but damn Irish hard head!

    So be safe.

Good luck to all of you up in the panhandle and along the Alabama & Louisiana coast. Just got thru ridding out Frances here at home near the Kennedy Space Center. We came out of it ok, just some of the wooden fences on the side of the house were blown over. Windows were boared up garage doors bolted down, ect. Lost power for 24 hours. But now the sun is out and cleaning up the mess. Once again, good luck to everyone and be safe.

I am riding it out in Pensacola. I live in Navy Pont right on the water so this should be interesting for me. I lost my house in Hurricane Erin which was a category 2. We are going right down the road to a school but the way this thing is looking it shoujld be a long night and next couple days. Good luck and if anyone needs any help after this thing my cell number is 850-232-8448. I'll be out and about as soon as it's over so if anyone needs me to check on anyone or anything give me a buzz.

Thanks Bruce. The battery offer is generous as always. We have plenty of supplies and batteries (Energizer of course:)). Things should be OK around here until late tonight. I doubt I'll be able to post tomorrow but I'll do my best. Trees are starting to bend pretty good and the water is going to be the bad part I'd say. Thanks for the concern everyone.

Thanks Wolfgang. I didn't realize this hurricane was big enough news for you guys to catch news on it. I just got back from a friends marina right up the bayou. We were standing on the end of his dock in the rain and you could see the storm surge rolling in. The water was right at the bottom of his dock when I got there and after the thirty minutes I was there water was starting to shoot through the bottom. Two boats out in the middle of the bayou had dragged anchor lines and become entangled. Sadly it's too late to get out there and try to reanchor them. All we could do was watch them swing back and forth into each other. It was weird seeing how bad the water was and it still has not even hit yet. Pretty soon it will be time to head to the shelter.

Thanks for asking, but she finally left to go to a friend's house in Cordova this morning. Listen. Keep safe and dry. There will be plenty of time to be a hero after all this passes. Good luck. We're pulling for ya.
