And in answer to all your accusations, maybe Vik made a bad judgement call that he rectified - Brad does the same on InsideTheEC and we're not crucifying him. Not knocking anyone here because I like and respect them both, but why the double standard all of a sudden?

How about lets talk about Ferraris and runs and parties again and leave this stupid BS in the past where it should be.

 

In other words, Hubert was discriminated and did not receive benefit of doubt that others would have, becaue his history and involvement with EC. Correct?

Isn't that what a good moderator wouldn't do? Let peronsal agenda dilute his judgement?

But I won't vote. This thread seems senseless to me as does the Vik thread. Seems old ghosts keep coming back to haunt the ghost. Why can't we just let evil spirits die? The dead rest in piece? Anybody know a good exorcist?

I do not see any double standard here.
Vik's banning on Hubert, is effected by his personal agenda, due to Hubert's role/involvement with EC.
Brad's action on ITEC, was to FAIRLY enforce a rule. You might not agree with that rule, but it was carried out fairly, you were treated the same as his best friend of 10 years, no one was discriminated.

 

For the record, I got caught up in the anti-Vik sentiment and misused the vote on Sam's moderating job. I voted "no" although he has been doing a good job. Therefore I request my vote be removed and I will abstain from voting. This whole thing has gotten ridiculous.

 

Ferrari bashing, Lambo bashing, Mini bashing, who cares? The subject of conversation on this sub-forum has nothing to do with Vik's status as a moderator or as a regular user -- that logic is just idiotic.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with just about everything Bill Hart has been saying -- stop trying to make Vik a pariah and get to the real issue.

I know Huberts intent on making the poll was in actual seriousness. But it was only a matter of time before things got out of hand. So i'll add to it. Sam is doing a fine job. He's low key, laid back and comes moderates when necessarily. Plus he drives a Mondial.

 

The thing that took me by suprise was the fact that the thread was made to see how the results will differ from that of the other "pointless" thread. How can you defame the character of someone as a science experiment, what gives you the right to do that. This thread needs automatic ban.

 

Read some of Vik's posts before he was a moderator, and then some of his recent posts, if you truly can not tell the change of attitude in his posts, you are living in denial.

 

Mahwon do you even know Vik? You seem to have pretty strong feelings against him.

 

I only state facts, and what I believe to be truth in my posts.
If you found anything I said to be biased, please tell me what it is.

 

This is a grossly inaccurate statement. Have you not read everything else that has posted around this point, or are choosing to ignore it to serve your purpose?

Once again, the action was taken only AFTER a thread was posted in the Moderator section where other moderators VERIFIED that it seemed to be the same user. The matching of IP's was also posted in this sub-forum for all to confirm. It was not a unilateral decision made by me that was discussed with the mods after the fact. There is a huge difference between the two.

We recognized our error after somebody else brought data to our attention, confirmed that they were indeed two different users, and therefore reversed the ban immediately.

All of this has been publicly noted by MarkPDX, wax, myself and others. Please keep this fact pattern in mind when posting on this point going forward.

 

Oh BTW, the way this poll has been setup, the choices offered, and the public nature of it should provide food for thought for individuals looking at the moderator situation objectively, and the people involved.

and i really can't see how anyone can find sam's style biased and doing harm to the nyts section, when the NYTS section was alive you did not even feel sam's presents until it was needed, no constant warning or banning of users.

 

I am just stating my honest opinion on what I have witnessed.
