Well thought I would be starting my interior leather rehab but I sent the Dye back for a better color match. Needed something else to do sooooooooo..............
The passenger side skid plate is missing from the vehicle as the bumper was damaged on that side. The bumper was repaired but the skid plate was not replaced. Looking what was available it appears I have seen 3 types of material used, steel, Aluminum and HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). I happen to work with HDPE plate for other projects so I decided to give it a whirl.

    1) removed the HDPE skid plate from the drivers side
    2) purchased some 3/8" Black HDPE plate (6" by 48" piece cost me under $10)
    3) used old skid plate as template (traced with scribe)
    4) cut out with hand held jigsaw
    5) clamped 2 cutout plates together and sanded edge to smooth out edge.
    6) used router to cut round edge
    7) part 2 (completion) after this weekend!

Good work, you can market them as 'lightweight' skid pads :D

Maybe when I retire I'll go into the cheapo parts business(not!). I have enough on my plate now with my current business. I'll leave the selling to the site sponsors. Like I said, I hope to finish up the plates this weekend and post more pictures and instructions.

Could be a dumb question but where do you normally find HDPE? I'd like to make some as well but not sure where to buy the material.

Look for plastics suppliers in your area. I sourced mine from "Plastics International" here in Eden Prairie, MN. 3/8" black HDPE sheet is fairly common. They had an end cut I purchased, 6"x48" for around $9.30. The ss steel nuts, bolts and washers cost me #10.00 at the hardware store.
