I've tried this around a couple of other forums, but no one really seems to know the answer. Does anybody here know of a good source for skid plates for the front bumper of the LP640? After only about 1 week of ownership, we've already banged it on a minor dip in the road, and I'd like to help minimize damage in the future.

I know Ricambi America makes them for F Cars, but I don't know if anybody has them yet for the 640.

This car is BY FAR the easiest of our 'enthusiast cars' to scrape. It's quite a bit lower than the 430, for sure.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

We have made these in very limited quantities for Ferraris, and could make you a set if you could make a pattern for us.

What are they made out of, and how thick are they? Since the 640 is so low to begin with, I worry a bit about anything hanging down.

I'll definitely follow up though. I know we'll whack it again sometime.

We've done the typical UHMW polyethlene type, which are about 1/4" thick, and also Kevlar, which are much thinner. I agree that a skid plate can be counter-productive if it is so thick that you end up scraping things that you wouldn't have if you had no skid plate at all.

Chuck, I'll see if I can find a contact for you this weekend. The Cars & Coffee thing in the Florida board is happening Saturday and last month I met a Murci driver there that had the same thing put on his car. If he's there, I'll find out where he got it and take some hi-res pics for you.
