For those who know Skip, you may be interested that he has undergone a successful quintuple bypass and a heart valve replacement earlier this week, at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL. He is recovering and seems to be doing well. He is still in CICU, so I wouldn't recommend calling for a few days, but I am sure that he would enjoy hearing from well wishers, maybe Saturday if you find the time.

    Regards,
    Bill

P.S.: Don't make fun of him about the pig valve......LOL

Yes, let's not pork fun at him!

If Skip eats pork, after this surgery, does that make him a cannibal?

If he asks for a pen for Christmas, does he mean a sty? Or an OINK pen?

Does he SOW his wild oats?

    He always was a ham!

    enough......

You guys are bad. Let us continue to treat Skip with the dignity and respect we've always shown this fine gentleman. By the way, is there any truth to the rumor that his nose has begun to flatten and he has the beginings of a curly tail? ;)

Seriously, I'll give him a call tomorrow.

Thanks for letting us all know.

I spoke to Skip yesterday and he sounds tired but in good spirits. He might be coming home this weekend.

    Happy Holidays!

Skip and I talked briefly over the summer about his condition. He really sounded like a time bomb.
Glad to hear it has been defused!
He is in good hands at Loyola (I went to med school there)

I'm very relieved to hear he is well. My guess is, he'll stay a few extra days to enjoy the nurses. You know men can be such pigs...

    I talked to Skip tonight.
You got the wrong farm animal. Skip didn't get a pig valve, they gave him a Goat valve!

Does that mean he's going to be more rammy?

Or is he going after virgin wool?

    On the lamb?

No wonder he was singing... Me and Ewe, when I called.

There has to be something better to talk about in the Chicago section than taking shots at one of our best buddies. I know its all supposed to be in a humor-like tone but...

I would like to see our Chicagoan brothers say what they think about the 2005 F1 season, if they know of anyone with orders on the F430, if they have seen one, are they going to the autoshow, have any fun drive ideas for 05, have done anything to their cars or garages this winter, have their eyes set on adding another car, ( Dave B is quite the example. )

It might be a slow part of the season but I just don't like reading through this section of Fchat to see the only updates are saying what animal one of our best friends can best be associated with.

Oh,C'mon now...we're just having a little fun,in this Non Driving Season...(Plus,that would be a different thread altogether) But,yes,we are planning on meeting at the Auto Show in Feb. And checking out the Ferrari & Lamborghini Booths. We'll keep you posted as to when.

I am still planning on adding another F-Car this year. Was going to this past Year, but, really did not have the time to look at Cars. And,there really wasn't anything close by that I was interested in. Plus,as it got closer to Winter, kind of became irrelevant, not being able to drive it. And,letting my Wife have the other side of the garage this Winter. But,this Year,I will be,for sure..

    David,
While taking pot-shots from a host of acquaintences may be unsettling for some, Skip, as I have read the continuing responses to him over the phone, has laughed so hard that I had to change the conversation to a more somber topic. It has made his day on a couple of occasions.

I do agree that there has been a conspicuous absence of directly related F-topic posts in the Chicago section lately, but this thread was started to let everyone know how Skip was/is doing.

Latest update: They have decided to keep caged for a bit longer in the Loyola petting zoo, as he was not feeling ready to care for himself yet. There has also been an unforseen complication that will hopefully work itself out soon. So, he will be staying with the veterinarian for a bit longer. :D

    Best regards, happy new year,
    Bill

Any update on Skip? I was thinking about him today, and hope that he is healing up O.K.

Also, didn't Tod say,at the Christmas party that he was having a Heart Procedure done, too? I was wondering if he did,and if so,how he is doing...? Anyone know?

I tried calling him a few times over the past few weeks and he never has his machine on. He is the elder statesmen and most storied person in our little section. I guess that means he is trying to use his superior mind and expecting people to contact him telepathically.

Fix your phone Skip, or get off that recoop center island in the tropics with all your PT nurses. Its slow up here car chat wise, we need some good input.

Skip is probably back home by now. His surgery itself went well, but had some complications. These things are hard on oneself and I wish him the best for a speedy recovery.

Skip was home for a day or two, then returned to the hospital. Things are not going really well. There are some issues that are seeming to dog him. At this moment, it seems that he will be going home tonight.

He's home again, I just talked to him... I so want to just quit my job and go be his private nurse till he's back to 100%... years ago my grandfather became temporarily bedridden after a heart issue and we all were amazed how in just like two months he was back at 100%...Seriously my grandfather came out of surgery not even sure who he was and needing 24 hour nursing..
Skip had a rough time with some of this physically, but mentally, well, he's as sharp as ever :)
He's a great guy and he'll be 100% just in time for the warm weather :)

Well,Skip has been in my Prayers. I hope that helps!

Funny you mention the Nurse thing...My Wife kind of always wanted to be a Nurse. She's a real Sweetheart, and very Compassionate. But,she's also kind of shy,so she never pursued it.

Well, since she's known me,with all of my Previous Injuries, and more recent ones. I've had 5 assorted Surgical procedures in the Past few years, due to the Auto Accident that I was involved in back in '01.

She's been by my side throughout all of them. And,Nursed me back to health. So,she's kind of gotten her wish..We joke about it all of the time....:(.....But,I am Definitely blessed to have found such a great Lady....:)
