    Hey,

    Came across this recently - Sounds very cool if they get 'er done in time;

I know at least one of my boys has a Sky Sports subscription - I wonder if I can VPN & piggyback off his account?......

Come on Speed!? - What are you doing?!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Why, waiting on the race season to start next week, priorities, priorities. They may remember to throw something in for us during the year, unfortunately with the same old (literally) fogies (sp?).

Still get some Beeb on the www fortunately

    :p

I know we've had this debate before..... Please add what it costs you, in which country, to receive live F1 coverage for 2012. Any add-ons?

Mine - USA - Speed Channel - As part of my "Sports" subscription with DirecTV at an additional ~$20/month. Total TV bill ~$100/month. [No movie ch's etc btw]

    You?

    Cheers,
    Ian
PS - Haven't found any worthwhile "addons" from SpeedTV - AFAIK, they don't have anything like mentioned in the OP. [I do have the F1 timing app of course, but that's nothing to do with these guys as we know.]

I'll let you know how I go on Ian.

As regards to Apple, I'am a Android man, you know I have a healthy dislike of all dictators..;)

    Hey,

Time for a little update on this..... As anyone who was in the qualy thread this am knows, I eventually got this thing up and going - I am totally *stoked!* - It really does what they claim beautifully and has completely recharged my fan batteries. There wasn't a single ad in the entire 90 minute delay for example. :)

If you're in the UK, or want to pay for two VPN's it also negates the need for the Bernie app. [While the VPN client is installed on all my machines, including Linux btw, only one can be active at a time.] So, for me at least, it's marginally cheaper to use the Bernie app for timing on the iPhone and the Sky Sports ("Race Control") app on the iPad (or Android I believe).

It also appears that if you're not a Sky Sports subscriber the app subscription will run you 4.99 UKP / month - I can't check, but assume you do already need to be a "regular" Sky user (?) However, even that is cheaper than the "full" sport subscription, correct? [In addition to the F1 channel it gives me all their other sports channels BTW.] Further, given a modern TV and an Apple TV2 I'm pretty sure I could stream it to the "big" TV. Doesn't much bother me as I'm solo - Although if the quality is there the "quad view" shown below would be nice on the big screen - Anyone doing this? Comments?

I'm gonna have to change my sleeping habits though.... A *two hour* pre-race show means being online @ 03:00 tomorrow!

But at least I have a choice ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

One minute ago, as a warmup to the start of the British GP broadcast, Sky F1 broadcast a 10 minute film from 1950 about the first GP at Silverstone (13th May 1950). Fantastic footage of the debut of the BRM V16, of the Alfa's and Maserati's, wonderful period commentary.

It is stuff like this that really makes me happy to be Sky F1 customer. They really do make a wonderful channel for real fans, not for the general public.

I live in the USA. I thought I'd miss BBC except for 1 unnamed announcer, but SKY is fantastic and the announcers are never over the top. The coverage is fantastic. I'm not a fan of SPEED. I have several F1 apps already, but the commercials for the new SKY app look fantastic as well!

Sky is the only way to watch F1...BBC a nice second, I really like their post-race Forum bit. Speed+Fox are garbage.

I had no idea you were married to McNish!...... *Now* I understand why you're such a sports car fan. :)

Seriously, you mean Allan's a "behind the scenes" analyst? *Sweet* gig - Need anyone else? ;)

It really is very, very good IMO. Having said that, I watched pretty much the whole thing on the main channel (it whined about bandwidth & cut the commentary when I went to quad view today) Which is also available via Sky Go (as long as you're a subscriber)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Not according to T12 (with apologies if it's the other T!) - He claims all they talk about is the Brits!...... I actually reckon they're pretty well balanced. And as you say, the pre & post race stuff is *great*. The summary with the dude in the pitlane afterwards (in the rain!) kept me awake!

    Cheers,
    Ian
