A new rendering someone found for the 400 North Lake Shore Drive site(former Spire site). Related is supposed to announce the plan late this year or early next. The north tower looks to be over 1500 ft high.

More Chicago Motor Row photos and a link. FIAT 1911 dealer is photo number 3. Building originally had French glass style windows and Italian tile roof wich has since been replaced. Could use a good restoration. Huge 2 story FIAT sign is also long gone. An Alfa Romeo/FIAT dealer has taken over the site and the 4C and FIAT's parked behind the old FIAT dealer in the last photo are from that new dealer.

Ha Yes Daley sr. era.. Surprised he didn't have it torn down. Really a nice looking building in real life. Rahm is also a tear down freak so historical buildings should be afraid.

By the way, here is one of the main reasons a downtown business core works much better in some cities but not others.

Another drawing showing the newest towers under construction or legitimate proposals all between 1000 feet and 1400 feet tall. This should really change the skyline just like all the skinny tall towers are changing NYC right now. The only buildings this does not show are the south loop towers(would be left side on photo) and several tall buildings planned for the mouth of the river including the old Spire site.

3 to 4 700-900 foot tall towers going in the south loop.

I think that part is not original or atleast it was changed. This house was spared but hundreds of other mansions in Chicago built prior to 1900 were torn down in the 1960's and 1970s. What a shame. Daley Sr. was not a historian!!

They sure did built stuff nice prior to 1930. Now everything looks cheap by comparison. Even the regular white stone and brown stone houses that there are thousands of in Chicago look like they were made for royalty.

I imagine that 'monstrosity' behind it is situated in what used to be the lawn/gardens of the mansion... a shame.
