You know Related will just put a boring box on the site. I hope the Spire developer wins.

I visited Chicago this week for the first time (a business trip) but didn't take many photos because my phone battery drained exceptionally fast even with limited use :)confused:).

Amazing buildings and I did make it to the 96th floor of the Hancock Center late one night...wow!

Here's a photo I took of the skyline from Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown...

Hope you had a great time. That new Ping Tom Park is in an area that until a few years ago was not very good. Good that they saved that area as a park. Downtown keeps moving south(and west and north).

New tower just now under construction in Greektown, the Arkadia. Should add to the view on the other side of the Dan Ryan Expressway.

I'm thinking the times of one upman ship are over: Who wants to put a big target on his building?

Nothing wrong with not being the tallest building. Call it added security through obscurity.

Ha...From yesterdays Chicago Realestate Daily...........It would be funny if it happened woudn't it.....

"Garrett Kelleher, the Irish developer who planned to build the 2,000-foot-tall condominium tower, is feeling confident he can meet that deadline and restart the project, said his lawyer, Thomas Murphy. Mr. Kelleher is in discussions with deep-pocketed investors interested in providing financing, he said."

All the Caissons and the secant wall are in. That was a big start to the projects foundation. Still I am very scepticle, but you never know with this Irishman.

I'm skeptical also... didn't know that the whole hole had been filled in.

There's a pic of the hole on F1tommy's link 187 above.

Actually surprised that it got that far.

So were we....it was to good to be true. You never really know as Chicago has gotten alot of great big buildings over the years. I guess if Related takes over the property something nice will end up being built but I hope the Spire happens. It would be the most interesting large building in North America if built. Sorry for the spelling, that's what happens when you don't have any sleep.

    Here is what it says............

Judge tosses suit to block Wolf Point project

By: Alby Gallun November 19, 2013

The developers of Wolf Point scored a victory in court today, when a federal judge threw out a lawsuit to block the riverside project.

U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve dismissed a complaint filed by opponents of the massive development, which will encompass three towers and cost an estimated $1 billion. The joint venture building a 525-unit apartment high-rise on the site broke ground on the project last week. (Read the opinion below.)

The condominium association representing residents in the Residences of Riverbend tower across the river sued the city in May, alleging that the city violated their constitutional rights by approving the development on the property, a peninsula at the confluence of the North and South branches of the Chicago River. The proposed towers would block the eastern views from Riverbend, some of the best vistas in the city.

In an August court filing, the Riverbend condo association alleged that the city bent its rules to benefit the Kennedy family, the longtime owners of the property.

Judge St. Eve rejected the opponents' arguments, dismissing the entire complaint.

The plaintiffs “cannot establish that they have a constitutionally protected property interest,” she wrote in an opinion filed today.

A lawyer for the Riverbend condo association was not immediately available.

The city is “pleased that the lawsuit was dismissed,” a city spokesman said in a statement.

A joint venture between the Kennedys, Chicago-based Magellan Development Group LLC and Houston-based Hines Interests L.P. are building the apartment tower, which should open by the fall of 2015. The high-rise, which will cost about $150 million, is being financed with a $100 million loan from Bank of America Corp., according to a person familiar with the project.

New Riverpoint rendering. Now 750ft tall and around 50 floors. Wolf Point is going in right next to the trees on the lower right side.
