Thinking about buying one as a daily driver but need to know about their repair schedule/ how often they break down.

These things are VERY expensive to maintain and fix. I was on the lot looking at a gorgeous black/charcoal SL500 yesterday...make sure you have an extended warranty. This is what's scaring me off buying it - I've had a bad experience with MB in the past and these cars are no picnic off warranty. The price is right, but dunno what I'm looking at in repair headaches.

find a dealer to do the PPI , if not find one of the best indipendent MBZ service place to check it out,

couple of things you should look for
    -mantinnce records
-color of fluids (coolant - green) (brake flud - clear ) (transmission fliud - red )

-brakes are brembo 6pistion front - 4 piston rear - do not buy over the counter parts you can use after market disc and pads
-only issue I have see on most mbz & BMW's = catalytic coverter failure / o2 sensor.
-what it comes down to you get what you pay for - lower the miles - higher the price will be - but its called quality. look for it spend the extra $ for a clean car.

The abc suspension will give you the most problem. Pump is around $1200, each shock is around $1000(about the same as a Range Rover) I have seen the engines with 135k miles so you shouldn't have major problems, just small ones that cost ALOT...
