Am considering purchasing a low kms SL55 in a couple months.

Does anyone have any experience with this car? I'm guessing reliability is good. Is this the case?

Did anyone purchase an upgraded ECU and/or pulley? How about the lowering module?

Any problems with this car? Anything to watch out for?

I have an 04 CL55 AMG and I just love it, she has quite a bit of power right out of the box, and I would think the SL is even a bit better performer than mine.

    Great choice!

Ive heard nothing but good things about this car. In fact i told someone to get one of these instead of a 355. Before you guys kill me, he wanted something with a warranty and it was tough to find a 355 with one.

I've had my '04 SL55 for over a year and have had no problems at all and a whole lot of fun! Mine is dead stock. Only change I will make is to get the SL65 wheels in the spring. Good luck!

What factors required you to get rid of it?

I just switch cars often. Since then I have had a:

    996 Twin Turbo
SL65 ( decided not to take delivery after an hour in the car)
    996 Twin Turbo Cab

Still have my 360 and the 996 Turbo Cab

Just out of curiosity, what was the story behind the 65?

I get first shot at all the hot cars out of a friends dealership. I told them way back I would take the car but when I picked it up I couldn't justify it.

It was sooo close to the 55 in every aspect. It looked good and sounded a litle bit better than the 55 but not by much. Accleration felt a little better without that supercharger but I wouldn'y pay more than about a $15k premium over the 55. The SL 55 is such a good car that the 65 can't really out shine it's smaller sibling.

Vernon, you've got the SL in your profile pic right? Beautiful car. BIG difference over the SL 500 I hear.
