I've not had sleeping troubles for a few months now but in the past 2 weeks they've come back (in full force it would seem). Recently, in the past 2 weeks, i've been exhausted because of this.

I go to sleep and as soon as i'm actually asleep i start to dream and don't stop until i wake up. Sometimes these dreams will wake me up during the night, other times they won't. They do make me a restless sleeper though. When my alarm goes off at 8AM every morning i feel like i've been awake all night. Like, when the alarm goes off, i feel like i'm already awake. Other times i'll wake up at random times during the night, usually waking up more than once in one night. This happens everywhere i go. I've slept in my bed at my apartment, my girlfriends fold out bed in her room and my bed at home (which is the comfyest bed i've ever been in and everyone who sits in it agrees. Its incredibly comfy) but even that hasn't stopped it. I'm thinking i'm going to call my doc and get some more ambien because even though i hated that, its the only stuff that worked. Lunesta didn't work at all and melatonin just makes these dreams worse. They are very realistic and i normally remember them which is even wierder because a) i don't normally dream and b) if i do, i hardly ever remember them

The annoying thing is that they aren't even good dreams. Maybe 1 or 2 are but usually they are about random stuff that has happened recently.

For example: Yesterday, someone on bimmerforums was selling ferrari shirts and i asked him about one and he said he sold them all to 1 person. I had a dream that i met this person at a train station and he was trying to sell all the shirts to people. My dreams are usually always about things that could transpire from events that have happend the day before. Like, tonight i might dream that someone replies to this thread and has to answer to why this happens

Any ideas? Thoughts? Anyone else had this before?

Therapy? Something is obviously bugging you.

Also, medications can cause sleep problems. Talk with your doc about the meds you take (if any) and possible side effects.

Nothing has really changed in the past 2 weeks though. Same things are bugging me now that were before

I don't really take meds besides Zertek and again, that hasn't changed either in the past 2 weeks

do you take any medicines? I started taking Zyrtec for allergies this spring and had some of the most bizarre dreams of my life (and also averaged about 4 hrs of sleep a night for 3 months). stopped taking this stuff, and a few days later, sleeping well, no dreams, etc. I've asked a few others who take Zyrtec and they reported the same thing.

Chris, I would not stop taking medication until you talk to your doc and get his/her okay.

could be a cumulative effect based on dosage, body chemistry, etc. It took a week or so for me to start having side effects, but I took the 24 hr, heavy dosage version. Also, as a heads up/FYI, I had side effects for a few days after I stopped taking it.

Funny you should post about sleep problems, I have noticed the same thing.

I got back from a great vacation on 7/12 and haven't been able to sleep since. 4-5 hours, when 6-7 is really what I need.

It is weird being up at 1 a.m. and not even tired, day after day. What is stranger is waking up at 6 wide awake and not groggy all day.

No medications at all, limited caffeine.

Question is: Where did you just get back from, if your trip was long you may be suffering from Jet Lag.

I also have sleep problems, My bed is not comfortable at all, its a twin, and I have had it since I was born, and my sister had it before me for like 2 years. So its about 25 years old. :(
I also, don't have dreams that often, only when I am sick, I have this one dream where I run around my room, all miniature sized, and drive all my 1:18th cars, and get chased around, and play some weird game with the person chasing me. Only when I am sick I get this dream, must be the medicine :D

A page or two of that will knock you out in a heart beat.

Speaking of stuff that knocks you out in a heart beat. The show How its Made on Discovery, that music is so intense, that it drowns you to sleep, and it might be the guys voice, I used to come home from school (I know already boring) and the show would come on, and I would be out. Happens every time I watch the show.

    Chris,

I've gone through stretches like this when I was stressed, especially the reality-based dreams. What I found frustrating about it was the way the line between reality and dreams began to blur. I dreamt about having conversations or doing things with friends or family members that never took place, everyday type stuff. It became difficult remembering what I had actually said and what was a dream. Try the "load" therapy:)
