I was like everyone else on Fchat glad to finally see the FXX on Top Gear, but also like everyone on here, sad to see it striped of it s time because it was on slicks. I have been a big fan of the FXX over the years, and always thought they were raced on a special tire that was made of a super sticky compond but still have tread. Am I mistaken or was this just a random running on slicks?

If I'm not mistaken, all cars that get onto the Top Gear score board need to be street legal; then wouldn't the slicks disqualify it prom placing.

Dont the cars also need to able to clear a speed bump? I was expecting it to be stripped of its place because of that, i assume that they dont have the same system as the Enzo for clearing bumps.

Bridgestones made the tires for the enzo and the fxx. I'm sure you can run the street tires that the enzo uses, but who in the Hell would drive a 2.9 million dollar FXX in the rain with 860 hp when they can hardy keep it in control when it's not raining. Check youtube and you will see what I mean. MAybe someone with an FXX will know that one.

I suppose the question is how much would it cost to make one road legal as its obviously not just the tyres that prohibit it.

The FXX is a race car pain and simple. Way too may things to change I would think to make road legal and why do it? It would be like converting a 430 challenge car to be steet legal. Buy a Enzo for the street and have an FXX for track days. After of course you will the Lotto :)

i read that the fxx does normally run on slicks. and the fact is that the fxx is not street legal not even due to the fact of the tires, i do not understand why top gear did not realize this. still it was a great episode... stupid gumpert

Top Gear knew damn well that the FXX wasnt street legal and that the time wouldnt count. They just did it for the show and to create more buzz on their show, which worked perfectly as people are still talking about it 2 weeks later..
