Not entirely sure if this is clutch or trans related but my 348 has a slight rattle at idle with clutch up at idle in neutral. It goes away when clutch is depressed. Besides the slight rattle at idle in neutral when accelerating and decellerating the car lurches a bit as well. It shifts fine when driving easy and gear oil was clean of metal frags when changed a few weeks ago.

Doing some research on old posts I found what might be a few causes. Loose ring nut or release bearing, t/o. At this stage should I waste time checking the pumpkin out or plan for trans removal? As mentioned car shifts fine, no grinding so not sure what course of action anyone recommends.

The difference in effort between checking out the pumpkin and removing the trans is like clipping your finger nail or chopping off your finger. Why not just remove the pumpkin and see what's doing? Could easily be the release bearing or a broken pressure plate finger, etc. Also, the ring nuts are accessible with the trans in the car and one is below the release bearing anyway.
