I have noticed a squeeking sound that is progressively getting louder the more I drive my 308 that eminates from the left front wheel. It's only noticeable after the car has been driven a fair distance (over 5+ miles) and also during slow speeds (under 15 MPH). For example, the sound appears when I am slowing down at an intersection. Has anyone out there experienced the same dilema? And if so, what was the remedy? Could it be that the left wheel bearing is shot? Or, is it the brake pad sensor bar/clip? Go Canucks!

Have you inspected your brake pads? Is it worse with braking (light vs. heavy)? Most wheel bearing issues that I have experienced are not a squeaking sound but more a low grumbling sound.

Before you next drive John, *when the brakes are cold* run the hose inside the wheel area over the caliper and see if any brake dust washes away off the pad/disc area.

Take the car for a drive and see if the noise is still there.

I had new rear pads fitted to my 348 when I first bought it. They would squeak like MAD. Before every drive, I would wash the brake dust off. It would be right for the course of the drive, sometimes start to squeak before I got home.

The next time, do it again. Eventually the LHR stopped squeaking, but the RHR did squeak for a little longer.

Eventually the noise went away. This was over a few months, but I dont drive my car much.

If the noise is still there after you wash out the brake dust, then you may have to remove the wheel and inspect the pads or whatever the noise may be in that area.

Thanks guys for your inPut so far. I certainly will try the washing of the brakes before my next drive. It does make sence that the dust could have a part to play in it. But to answer the question of light vs heavy braking, it actually only makes the sound when I don't use the brakes. For example, when I gradually creep down my alley way before I enter my garage, the sound is prevalent when slowly driving down the alley. And at that nominal speed I can hear this slight squeaking from the LF wheel.

I've developed something similar at the right rear in the past couple weeks. Squeaking noise that gets worse cornering left, goes away cornering right. It's as if more pressure on the right rear wheel increases the squeak. Not at all the grinding noise I've heard before with a bad wheel bearing. I drove a bunch and tested the temp of the wheel versus the others--no difference.

I guess it could be the brakes? Applying them doesn't seem to change it at all, I was thinking wheel bearing.

Hello Viper-Driver. I am experiencing the same thing. I concur with you that it is a bearing. But, like I mentioned before, my squeak is coming from the left front. Do you think just repacking the bearing would do the trick? Or should I just go ahead and replace it with a new one? Damn, this Ferrari hobby is time and money consuming.

Sealed bearings...I'd think replacement is the only option. Sure wish I'd done it when I had the rear suspension completely removed. I was talked out of it, would have been a nice 'while I'm in there' job.
