Anyone seen the ad for the "slightly damaged gt4" in the ferrari ads? Seems the damaged cars are worth more than the restored ones! Good luck to the seller! http://www.animecelshop.com/ferrariforsale.htm
Naw, its only "slightly" damaged...Shouldn't be more than 200-300$ to fix. AND it had a frame off restoration, yet the passenger seat leather is held together with black duct tape in the pic... This ad just got listed in ferrariads.com recently...someone hurry up and buy it...won't last long...good runner...fully restored....concours winner?....owned by a famous star, can't say who...cream puff....clear car fax....and sooo on.
geeze and my 308 only ran over a curb............ " low speed damage" .......... i think not.i would not pay more than $7500.00, but its fixable. these older fcars are built just like the dirt track cars we race here. good welders with frame jigs are plentiful. its funny you guys mentioned the $250.00 thats all i had to pay to have my 308 frame checked on the machine , and the little ear for the radiator on the left side pulled out. i got a great " LOL" from that comment !
DIdn;t one of these in good condition sell for $17k or so on that SpeedTV show? Agreed... $5k, but make it a parts car. Frame damage is a RUN AWAY FAST situation IMHO.
Well, I emailed the seller...I have a cousin who wouldn't mind a fixer-upper, though it would have to be cheap.... -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: September 14, 2004 14:51 To: [email protected] Subject: Reply To Your Ad at the FerrariAds.com That looks much more damaged than "slightly." Perfect ones go for 16-18k, that may be worth 3-4k american...but good luck selling it... Sorry, don't mean to offend, just being realistic. Here's the reply: Wow, those are great prices. Do you know where I can find a wrecked car with no engine/transmission/interior and the back smashed/missing in for US$4K. I'll try and pick it up this weekend with cash. Or I would be interested in a perfect one for US$18k. Lousy ones/ebay are being dumped at US$17-20k. Any thing with service done/papers/good condition runs US$25-35k Only 2 on Ferrariads.com quick dump at 18k with tan (ugh) and 27K nice but GT2+0. The FCA has none currently, I have found a wrecker that can exchange a broken engine for a rebuilt one for $12K but I don't need an engine. MY car needs a $600 pull, passenger fender, hood, and upper front fender. And needs a rebuilt radiator, fiberglass lower fender patch, refoamed bumper, and a complete paint job to make it flawless again. Any help you can give me locating a wreck or cheap perfect car would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Andreas Anyone know of any junked cars he can purscahse to fix this one up? Are prices in Canada really that high?
The problem with finding a front clip for a GT4 versus a GTB/S is production numbers. Slightly over 2800 GT4's built versus 12,000+ GTB/S's built. The frame on that GT4 can be repaired as good as new and the car will be every bit as good as if it never hit the wall IF, I say IF it is done by a good frame shop and no short cuts are taken. The frame is the easy part. Finding the front sheet metal will be harder. Try Martin at Cavallino Motors. They had a 208 GT4 ( no engine/transaxle) semi-converted to a track car that looked to have a good front end. I think they wanted 4k for it. Saw the ad about a year ago in Ferrariads.com. Anybody have the number/Edress for Butch Hooper in Arizona?
I checked with Cavallino Motors back in October. The car was sold to Hong Kong to be converted into a race car. It was 4K for rolling chassis only. No motor/transmission/interior/dash/trim and covered in rust. Would have been perfect. I have a close friend that has been pulling cars for 30 years and is willing to straighten it but prefers new sheet metal rather then beating/welding the damaged ones. Hit was at under 30mph into a car that pulled out of a drive way. Looks way worse, I'm planning on fixing it, just need the parts. Can't hurt to offer it for sale just incase it's exactly what somebody needs to finish their project. still looking for parts. thanks
