I'm updating this thread in case any other 296 owners are considering lowering their cars on the stock suspension. In post 18, I said I was going to leave the car as is. Well, I changed my mind and decided to lower my 296.

It was lowered 5mm in the front and 10mm in the rear. I also had spacers installed paired with extended titanium bolts. 11mm in the front and 17mm in the rear.

I had the car lowered by a trusted independent mechanic specializing in Ferraris (who did flawless work on my F8 and 458 previously). The dealership then handled the alignment.

It is a modest drop, but I'm now satisfied with how the car sits. I haven't noticed any degradation in ride quality. I'm also not bottoming out or scraping, even with spirited driving.

Special thanks to @soulsea and @JesseRohr for the inspiration and information.

Looks gorgeous man. You’re getting me excited. Forgot to ask. Lowered on stock springs?

On a non-AF car? Have you tried launching it after lowering it? Curious if it affected traction from a dig.

I’ve never used the launch function on any of my cars. Perhaps I’ll give it a try and report back.

I have manually launched it and didn’t notice any issues.

Say what you will about the front or back, but the 296's side profile is something else. Among the best in the automotive world.

Are you saying you’re still pleased with the ride quality after lowering your car in the stock springs? If so, who lowered it for you and what did they charge you?

Yes correct, still pleased. Forgive the typo in my post.

Mine was lowered by my dealer. $1250 to lower and align it. Took them about two hours while I waited.

Thank you for the info. My dealer wants $4000 with alignment. Highway robbery.

That’s absurd. They had mine lowered in less than 20 mins after it was in the air. The alignment was the lion’s share of the labor.

Interesting … I was charged a similar amount. I’m surprised the work was done that quickly. I was lead to believe it was a much more involved process. Well … now we know. Thanks for the info.

The coilovers are adjustable from the factory while on the car. So it’s as easy as removing the wheels and adjusting each corner. The lock nut on the coilovers is the most difficult part.

I take delivery of my 296 this afternoon. I’ll let you guys know exactly what’s involved. We own a shop in SoCal and do this kind of thing all the time. I considered having the dealer do before I took delivery, but certainly not for $4000.
