    Hello Europe,

I was thinking about going to Italy for the month of August, Tuscany and Florence. Someone advised to make sure that's a good time since a lot of businesses go on vacation in August, he thought that might include a lot of restaurants.

Any truth to what he told me or is it just factories that close for August?

What about the Factory, when do they take their summer vacation?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sixcarbs

The national summer holiday in Italy is in August. This means that the Ferrari factory will be closed.
It is also high season for the tourists. This means that places as Florence and the rest of Tuscany are flooded with tourists. Nevertheless it is still a very beautiful place to visit.

    August in Italy:

    1) Terrible traffic, every idiot is let loose on the roads (national holidays)
    2) LOADS of foreign campers/vans/cars as if the Italians weren't enough
    3) Terrible weather!! In the last five years August has been getting worse and worse, to the point that last year it rained ALL damn month with the exception of Sicily, Sardinia and the mainland south of Naples.

My recommendation: June/July. Better weather, fewer tourists.

I completely agree with what has been said above...

I just LOVE Italy... but I would NEVER go there in August if not really neccessary...
I prefer June or late September...

Have a great trip whatever you decide!

I'm agree with Maranello71, for the weather the best month is July.

Try to visit all the typical places of the Tuscany, the hills of Lucca, the sea of Viareggio and Forte Dei Marmi... and not to forget the red wine, the steack called "Fiorentina", the olive oil...

    Mi piace troppo la Toscana
