Ferrari 348TS, I am new on this car and I have a question: What is the indication when the :"Slow down 2/4" light comes on??
Do you mean 1-4? It means you have a problem with your right engine bank exhaust temperature system. These issues are usually caused by the catalytic converter thermocouple or Thermocouple ECU. Or, possibly, your catalytic converter is failing.
I'll let the rocket scientists answer that one. Usually there are a few ifs and buts .. and lots of rabbit holes. e.g. Too little fuel makes the overall EGT high even before it hits the cat, throw in a "lean misfire" that then adds some unburned A/F mix to the exhaust flow, and its a recipe for a red-hot cat. Too rich (with air injection) will overheat the cat itself even though the pre-cat EGT is lower. Too much fuel without sufficient air will cool the cat- It's not quite as simple as "running too rich/too lean will overheat it". Is the lean condition real or just what the ECUs see (due to a faulty O2 sensor or air leak)? I should have asked the original poster if he gets the light even when the car is warming up. Is there a noticeable difference in left/right cat temperature (using an infra-red thermometer)?
The 348 and 1995 355 have non-serious slow down light. The light comes on when the ECU detects a hot exhaust condition. IF you floor the gas and drive more aggressively, and the light goes away, then the problem is not serious and you just motor on. If the light stays on all the time whenever you drive the car, it's time to look for why there is excess fuel in the cat converter.
