I'm having a good run of luck this season with my 360....Not!

1 CEL followed by 2 new ECU's in the last few weeks and now...

Latest is the flashing 'slow down' light....while not even driving the car.....it was just sitting in the driveway warming up when the 'slow down' decided to make an appearance.

I have read a number of threads and I am just looking for validation of my thinking here.

The 'slow down' is coming on even when the engine is stone cold - immediately on start up. no way the cats are anywhere near temperature in that situation. On the basis of this I'm concluding it has to be, either:

    1. a thermocouple that has gone kaput on the exhaust side of one of the cats, or

    2. The voltage converter that feeds the signal to the engine ECU - i.e. the control unit for one of the cats

Anyone concur with this logic or suggest something I have missed?

    Cheers

    Tom

Yes mate. If the Slow Down appears on a cold start up then the cats cannot be too hot, it will be the thermocouple or "ECU". Before you get into replacing components check the resistance across the thermocouple and the integrity of the grounds at the "ECU"s.

*I have called the voltage converters ECUs as that is what they are commonly referred to.

Is it cutting power to one bank?

U can lightly touch both cats when its heated up, one will be cold. If it is, swap the ECUs and see if the problem moves over to the other bank...... if it does its ur ECU, if not it is something else.

FYI Turns out it was a bad earth from one of the 2 new engine ECUs I installed.

Did check the cat voltage converter and the green had just started to pull away from the black plastic so I put clear silicone over it stop any moisture ingress.

wow great catch! I had the same issue and it was the O2 ecu's. One was bad and one was almost there. changed out both and all is well.

glad you got it sorted out.... with the same symptoms on my car, it was one of the ass flow sensors that was faulty.
