Hi, I am a new member so let me apologize in advance if this issue has been discussed for my model. I recently purchased a 1980 308 GTSi with a Slow Down light issue. The slow down light (1-4) stays turns on in ignition mode and stays on all the time while driving the vehicle. There is no loss of power, sputtering, hesitation, etc. while I am driving the vehicle. The only other weird thing is that when the car is cold, it will idle at about 2,000 rpm for about 45 seconds to a minute and then come down to just under 1,000 rpm. I don't know if any of this is related.

I've also been looking for a workshop manual for my year and model but I have been unsuccessful thus far.

Any help/suggestions would be really appreciated.
    Thanks!!

Most likely the CAT ECU I believe it is located below the pass footrest on the 308's . If it isn't the ecu it is the probe going into the cat.

I don't think that the idle is off at all. I had an '85 308 which started and idled in exactly the same manner and there was no problem. The colder the weather , the higher and longer the start up idle was. As long as it's steady and there is no mifiring or wavering, it should be fine.

I had a friend with a 328 whose slow down light was always on also. He had taken it to 3 mechanics , everything always checked out fine ( including removing and inspceting the cat), and it never went away. The always ran fine. His conclusion was that it was likely a fault in the wiring .
