Hey guys, another slow down light question. The last week or so, the slow down light has been coming on and shutting down the left bank. Im bringing the car to the shop today, and was wondering how i disconnect the ECU just so I can drive it there so they can have a looksee.

I do not have cats on the cat, so driving for 20 miles without the ECU plugged in shouldnt be an issue, right?

G is what needs to be unplugged right?

I believe G is correct......Which slow down light comes on? Is it the 1-4? Have you topped up or changed your oil just before the problem?

I had exactly the same situation. My mechanic believes those ECU sensors are just a sourse of trouble because they easily malfunction (humidity, cracks etc) and serve little porpose (how many ferraris have you heard of bursting into flames?).
He just removed them both and I have no more lights coming on and no more problems of wrong diagnost messages being sent (ie sending message that is too hot and shutting down banks resolting in HP loss. My opinion remove them and save money and headaches

2 things you can do.\ First reset the parameters by shutting down the battery when the car is hot. Leave it off for at least 20 minutes and then restart and let it idle for 10 to 12 minutes with nothing on not even the radio. Dont even blip the throttle. Then drive it and see if there is a difference. The other thing you can do is exchange the right and left modules (takes 10 minutes) and see if the problem moves to the other side (1-4). It it does then you need a new module part # 179278. These modules sometimes leak and go bad. If the problem is still there then exchange the left and right sensors and see if the problems moves to the 1-4 bank. It has to be one of these.

With no cats, you may smell gas. The exhaust gas temp sensors will not detect any change in the mixture. The ECUs are notorious for cracking and sending false signals. When I unplugged mine, I got a flashing light, which should not affect driving the car.

I just took mine off this weekend and sealed them. The easiest way to find them is to trace the temp sensor wire (thin braided stainless cover) up to the ECU. My car is F1, so it could be different, but the driver's side is under the left engine bay cover plate, and the passenger side is down low, just behind the rear tire. Both are the same part, so as described you can swap sides and be sure the error code follows the bad ECU.

Both of my ECUs had casing that were splitting, very obvious. I sealed them with silicone and plugged them back in.

Good information I had the same bank warning light come up yesterday in my mondial cab t 348. I paniced and pulled into a gas station to cool down. This was not the first time I had seen these warnings but the fisrt since exhaust modifications were done during major service. The concern was that I had the cats removed and and replaced with straight track cats as well as replacing the stock muffler with a Stebro System that my mechanic stated "I would not see those lights again". But they appeared yesterday after running the car over 120 for my first time and since the major service was done last month. It was a hot late afternoon the cats were steamy to say the least when I stopped to make sure they were not red hot. I was concerned with the warnings but the info everone has provided gives me a pretty good sense of calmness. I plan to take it out tonight to see if it happens again under normal responsible driving.

If you remove the cats or make changes that are not the normal cats as you have then you will get the odd check engine light but you should not get the slow down light........with the 355 anyway. Yours may be different

No Ferrari experience here from me...but my STi high flow (aftermarket) cat is now shot, and I get backfires on command out the tail pipe when I let off the gas. pop pop pop! I wouldn't think you would smell any gas, it should all be burned...just will stink like a normal pre-emissions car (like my '69 Firebird, phew!)
