Half the cylinders quit working..... didn't even notice the light until the car lost power. But I didn't slow down cause I was in the middle of "GPS Nowhere" shorty after the loss of power about a minute the light went off and the car took off again. the car was in the rain over night and it was raining during the drive. question is best guess to the intermitant failure.... ECU? or wiring? never had this problem before with the car and it runs and starts fine. I'll shotgun the parts if I have to just to not deal with an intermitant issue and if it stops the wife from saying "uh oh, what do you mean UH-OH!" ) too funny there was no way I was getting out in the rain in the middle of a place that wasn't found by a GPS (over cast) Now thats why I like Ferrari so much, its living on the edge.
ECU. It got hot, silicone seal cracked, moisture got in. The vaccum tubes inside are very delicate. (um, just kidding... they're not tubes.) What year is your car?
Ha ha ha.. Love this. Yeah the look on my passengers' faces is priceless every time I'm in the 308 and my eyebrows start to wrinkle at the water temp or something and I go "uh oh"... That is until they see the panic in my eyes... then it's "um what do you mean UH OH???"
I'm tellin' you, these things just don't like being in the rain. Go ask Mrs. JRR about her ruined shoes from pushing my 348 on a wet/sloppy Sunday morning. I fear this incident is going to cost me a new pair of Prada's.
jrr, it's a '90 348. I'll pull the ECU and look at it see if anything is up with it. you suggest just to replace the part or shift it to the other side? My words to her was "I aint gettin' out of this thing in the rain" as we passed the towel back and forth wiping the rain off our arms from the water coming in from a targa top that probably never sealed from new..... her words "what would it matter" ) tell me it wasn't yesterday that you had to push the car.... and by the way, when you push in the clutch it tends to stop the rocks in the maytag sound. you were right.
My friend had the exact same problem on his 355, we turned the engine off and unplugged the cat sensor, it cured the problem
Um, sadly it was yesterday. In addition to ruining a pair of shoes, she got drenched on the ride (2 hours) home to North Carolina. A wet stinky car towel to soak up the water didn't make her any happier. I have a billion brand new parts at my disposal, but I chose to replace a stupid emblem instead of a rubber seal. Gadzooks. On another subject, your ECU is probably going kaput. You can try swapping it to the other side and I expect your problem will switch banks. Some folks claim the ECU can be re-epoxied, but I have no firsthand experience with that approach. With Hyper Flows on the car, you might have a few more options, but I'll let the more experienced tech folks weigh in on that...
yeah, I was up there sunday in VA. lucky my car started right away. I'll call you for the part, I can't be bothered if the ECU is intermitant. I doubt the cat was over heating i would have noticed that for sure when i stopped for fuel.
When I dont drive my 348 for 2 weeks or so I get the "Slow down" lights come on for just like your example. But if I drive it every 4-9 days I have no problem. I just think there meant to be driven.
I have a 1991 348TS,Eurospec,same thing happens to me or when you drive the car for a while, shut it off,it has a hard time starting.Go figure.
Some days I just LOVE owning a Euro, carbed 308GTB. No FI, no cats, no warning lights ...and no worries.
This has happened to me twice now in the last 2 and a bit months. Ive never had a problem starting my cold or hot.
